How about less talk and more action?
After months of complaining about the Honda engine, both DNFs for Alonso were caused by chassis-related failures.

Re: Webber wins WEC
Yet another proof that most of the best drivers in the world are in F1. That may well be true but driving for the WEC is arguably more challenging than F1 at the moment due to the requirement to go flat out every single lap. There's no such thing as fuel or tyre saving. Physically it's less demandi...

These 'black box' areas include for 2016 upper/lower crankcase, valve drive, cover, the air valve system and ancillaries drive. Further restrictions come on board for 2017 and beyond, meaning that the scope for development gets less and less as time goes on. This is why Honda started racing one yea...

What's amazing is that the top 3 manufacturers in LMP1 all used different engine and hybrid concepts: Toyota: Normally aspirated petrol, super capacitor hybrid Audi: Turbo-diesel, flywheel hybrid Porsche: Turbo-petrol, battery hybrid And then all of them chose different levels of energy recovery. Re: Honda Spends last of Tokens
Honda's decisions to race one year early, and to spend most of their tokens on the ICE, are driven by the PU regulations, where many parts of the ICE will be frozen after this year.
If not for this, Honda will start racing next year instead. They're not quite a stupid as they're being made out to be.

It is very unlikely that the race will be cancelled due to the haze. For the last 4-5 days, I'd say it was somewhat tolerable 80% of the time. The remaining 20% of the time it got really bad and my eyes were hurting a bit and my throat was getting quite irritated. But it never got to a point where i...

I think Mclaren are tied into Honda for at least 4 more years. Not only the money Honda has spent, engine and sponsorship, but they have bbe working towards an end, and it seems Honda is the only one offering the "size zero" option. I think they will be mid field as soon as the reliability is sorte...

I'm not sure if we watched the same race. If there's one thing that McHonda did right, they had both cars finish the race while others were dropping like flies. Performance wise we'll have to wait till Singapore. Look at how the teams finished. 5 out of the top 6 cars have a Merc engine. This is pro...

No one-size-fits-all answer but when something comes loose in a machine operating at >10,000rpm I think you can expect it to be rather catastrophic. If it's a cooling related issue there will obviously be warning signs leading up to the point of failure, but the point of failure itself should be pre...

Re: Honda engine at Spa to equal Ferrari engine??
Chassis and engine are one tight integrated package. You'll have to be making a ton of assumptions to pin it on one or the other e.g. - With more engine power you can increase the wing and get more downforce, the converse is true - With the engine overheating you'll need to cater for more cooling, w...

No, we were less than 10 meters from the cars, if even that. Main straight of the Chinese Grand Prix. You can get right up close to the cars there and they are utterly silent. In that case, what would you call an F1 without the manufacturers? Other than Ferrari, none of the other engine manufacturers were going to stay if it were going to be the 2.4L V8s still. Prior to the new PUs, the FIA WEC had blown way past F1 in terms of technology. F1 needed to do what it had to d...

According to this article Alonso says the McLaren is "beautifully balanced," so it does indeed seem as though their problems are wholly on the PU side. Doubt any moves will happen at Turn 13, but making it wider may make it possible for drivers to take slightly different lines at Turn 13 making it possible to e.g.
1. take a late apex
2. accelerate earlier
3. make an overtaking move at Turn 14

When you're behind, need to catch up and beat a powerhouse that's already operating like a machine, you need to do something radical. You can't just try to do the same thing. Nothing wrong with lofty aims as long as you have something to back them up with. This is where both McLaren and Honda are lacking. There should be a lot of commotion. It's their plan to become the "long-term" champion. It's the trap Ferrari fell into too. They were always working on the next year's car. Nope. Never going to happen unless F1 is going to accept diesel engines too. I don't know why people keep bringing this up. It's an absolute non-starter.
