Re: Greatest Formula 1 driver

My take on Prost, Senna and Schumacher is much like F1Mercenary's: all three great, cannot separate out any one as better or not than the others. Clark imo was not the same technical type of driver as 'The Three': initially he knew little of car set-up and relied mostly on Chapman to set up his car...

Because Schumacher was the most protected driver in F1's history. He has no reason to doubt his team. This is the same Schumacher who had his team get Rubens to move over when he could have won in Austria even though Schumacher was leading the WDC with a points leads and had no competition from ano...

This has the Schumacher Japan 2006 feeling to it, clawed his way back into a WDC, just about to take the lead again and BOOM. Lewis did make a good start, in fact both Mercedes' which was nice to see and might give a little hope for Lewis' WDC chances. The stacking of Engines is now a blessing too. ...

Sauber seems to get closer to the middle field time wise or at least in the hands of Ericsson. They occasionally was up there before but only due to the misfortune of others. Now they almost carry middle field speed. Good for them.

Gutted for Ericsson. Good start and pace running in 10th and pushing Magnussen for 9th when the team ordered him to pit as early as lap 8 effectively ruin his race when he came out in bad traffic and on top of that pit stop strategy out the window. Sauber

Both Saubers way down the order in FP 3. Saw an interview with Ericsson explaining that they are struggling to get the tyres in and can't get them into the window. No surprise really as this track doesn't reward any of the few strengths of the Sauber car but showing it's weakness.

Why? Ericsson had a very good race (more so than Aloso who get alot of praise) until the rain came and the team ruined it all for him with multiple pit stops. Ericsson deserves at least a few votes on here.

Well, there's always someone who wants to say that Mario Andretti didn't deserve to win in 1978 or that Keke Rosberg didn't in 1982 or Jacques Villeneuve in '97. Who would say Andretti didn't fully deserve his title in '78? In fact, you could say he deserved the title in '77 as much as Lauda. As ot...

Going round in circles with constraints called rules is 'artificial', I don't think that's a useful way of looking at it. For me it's seeing skill that is the name of the game. Personally I am in favour of DRS. To me what was far more 'artificial' was when drivers were unable to overtake a clearly much slower car because they would lose bundles of grip when following another car. To the racing purist, and to the casual fan, I would argue that the Alonso/Petrov situation a...

Ronnie Peterson was sabotaged by Colin Chapman in qualifying at the 1978 British GP at Brands Hatch.
