If you're going to try a move like this then don't expect any favours from the other guy on the exit, the favour's already been given on entry with the other guy compromising his corner and avoiding contact as you rocket past on the inside missing the apex by a country mile.

Lets say the the FIA flow sensor works exactly the same on every car no matter the location, mounting, or engine supplier and once the car goes out with a particular PU and flow sensor combination and runs a full session in that configuration the FIA says your offset for this pairing is X%. Yeh, that's what I'm talking about. You probably wouldn't need to have the pit light on red at all, just have lapped cars drive through the pits and the pack will pass, putting the lapped cars right at the back of the pack by the time they're out of the pitlane.

Safety Car: Backmarker idea

So, instead of having the back markers overtake, and drive all the way round to catch up, they do the following: - Safety car out - Everyone pits, etc. - Clean track - Race control picks a lap - All lapped cars directed to drive into pit lane, don't box - Pit light red - Lapped cars stack, in order ...

I saw Alonso pondering this predicament also. I kind of assumed he picked up the '1st place' hat first and was like 'Ha! That would be funny. Shall I, shan't I?', and then was like 'Well, better not.' and picked up the '2nd place' one.
