I actually like the V8 Supercars solution to this problem, at notorious corners where the drivers get greedy they put down a sensor that detects when 4 tyres have crossed over it and which car it was. When this happens an instantaneous warning gets sent to the team and if you cross it too many time...

The Peugeot deal is what really scuppered Prost. It was an absolute pig. They went from a team that probably would have won a couple of races in '97 without Panis's accident to a backmarker.
