Vettel didn't respect the pole. He should not have overtaken Leclerc and then none of this would have happened.

Re: 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
If this had not been a back marker trying to overtake the race leader, but simply a fight for position, who would have got the penalty? In my opinion it would have been Max. Is there a written rule that switches the blame when the race leader is involved? I honestly don't know, that's why I'm askin...

Re: 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
Understanding more of the context of the crash, I feel Max is wholey to blame. Ocon was behind Max for a couple of laps, catching at 3 seconds per lap, he gained permission from his team to unlap himself, with this message being relayed to Max. During the overtake, Ocon got in front, and as the tur...

Re: 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
Firstly if a backmarker wants to unlap themselves it is his responsibility to do so without risk. He is not entitled to fight for track position and impede the race leaders. Secondly there is no point doing so unless you are significantly faster and are able to pull away afterwards, otherwise you wo...

Re: Vettel / Verstappen / Raikkonen Clash! Who to blame?
Vettel and Ferrari are battling for the world drivers and constructors championships. Max is not, so he has no right interfering with battles which do not concern him. He should know his place and should have backed off. Sadly his antics handed Lewis an undeserved victory and probably a fourth title...

It's always been accepted that F1 needs Ferrari, more than Ferrari needs F1.
As a consequence the extra bonus payments are to keep Ferrari sweet, otherwise they may decide to walk away from the sport.

I think what ElevenTenths is referring to is the fact that Hamilton mentally beats himself quite often and he doesn't really seem to learn from it. Off the top of my head... in 2007 Alonso got under his skin, in 2008 he was very mistake-prone (fortunately for him Massa was his only real competition...

Interesting, I would've thought Lewis had a larger proportion of McLaren's stats 2007-2012. Yet McLaren's last WCC is still with Hakkinen-Coulthard combo. As much as the team is important (they provide the car ultimately), nobody ever won anything of consequence in F1 by being a 'team player'. The problem for Alonso is he is no spring chicken.
