Re: The Official Lando Norris thread

One thing I've noted about Norris is his ability to accept help from anyone, not only in F1 but in Sim racing or his Esports stuff, he also seems to have a great relationship with his engineer. I'm not sure anyone could have stopped Lewis yesterday when his tyres were optimised and he is on a roll l...

Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Race Thread

Given the number of trips off road yesterday I sort of think the whole car concept looks like a relearning curve for drivers. Both Hamilton and surprisingly given the better grip, Verstappen had big incidents with the consequences dependant on circumstances. Sainz and Ricciardo don't become rubbish ...

Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Race Thread

I'm absolutely delighted for Lando Norris, McLaren now third team above Ferrari and Norris third place in the WDC. He might have held on to second if he hadn't had a slipping clutch. To leave Ricciardo in his wake was a bit of a surprise. He will surely sneak a win of some sort this season! :proud:

Won't Hamilton simply try to retain his pole then just pit before Red Bull so that he retains track position at the end then let his ability to manage tyres work at the end.
If it's Mercedes v Red Bull that is.

Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Race Thread

All this assumes that the only cars racing are Mercedes and Red Bull and also that Perez rolls over and lets Verstappen past. Are we confident that will happen? Safety cars and collisions change everything, and there isn't much between any of the teams this year, anything could happen!

The last time a team mate beat Verstappen in qualifying it was Ricciardo. This weekend Norris has been comfortably faster than Ricciardo, notwithstanding the 5cm that resulted in his fastest time being deleted. Judging by the conclusions jumped to in this thread, doesn't than mean Norris >>> Versta...

You have to say that was too close for Norris McLaren right up there with Mercedes and Red Bull. Verstappen not so good when Perez puts the pressure on, great drive from Perez and also Leclerc in the unfavoured Ferrari. It should be a great race tomorrow really looking forward to it and could easily...

A lot in that post. the final sentence being the telling one for me, the problem is that for the foreseeable future Verstappen will stay where he is. Leclerc won't sanction him at Ferrari and Hamilton's replacement will be Russell. Max's biggest problem might be if McLaren come good and start taking...

Final today, Hamilton v Rosberg. Each venue is so different from the previous one that its the variety I like. The course changes during the event as well. Its a different event that youngsters enjoy, my teenage daughter loves it!
That has to be a good thing Sebastian Loeb is really up for it.

Sort of ironic that Red Bull drew attention to it so the stewards calmed down on track limits at that corner.

Then Verstappen gets a penalty for leaving the track limits at that very same corner!

Verstappen must be gutted, with Red Bull quicker they need to maximise the advantage while they have it, that Mercedes will only get better as the season progresses. Nice to see track limits enforced and I hope that happens in the following races though I'm not all that confident.

I suppose the devil will be in the detail & i'm always keen to see new strategic angles included into F1 but my support for it will depend on how the PTP concept is implemented.
