Re: How many Grands Prix have you attended?

17 for me, every Montreal GP since 2001 and they didn't have a race in 2009. So 2001~2008, 2010~2018 Sitting dead in line with the apex of the hairpin in the front row of Grandstand 24 these days. Kubica's accident in 2007 was probably the scariest moment on track I've witnessed from just a few feet...

Re: ESPN Failed already

No commercials? You lucky ducks! We've been suffering through commerical breaks framed for 4:3 in Canada for years. TSN = worst F1 provider ever. This week-end they finally framed in 16:9 for the split screen commericals after I complained to Liberty Media's Digital Rights head, I've been sending TS...

Maybe someone else who has attended Hungary can chime in, but I wouldn't be waiting to call to verify the wording.

Re: Attending a GP

This is Brabham, less fence and a nice view of apex at turn 1, where the ovetaking occues. You can also see a screen from here which is crucial. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/74jYaUmc9SI/maxresdefault.jpg source, twitter I loathe these invasive new FIA-mandated fences. Drives me batty and even made me mov...

Re: Mercedes W09 Unvieled!

Can someone please tell me the name of the presenter who often does Mercedes bits (like interviewing Lewis last year while he drove a Mercedes production car around Malaysia) who did the interviews at the can unveil? She often does the driver interviews during the driver parade too. Mercedes never h...

Re: For all you loud engine lovers

I dont know why but I thought of music venues. Where there is a good band, there is good sound. Where the band is anot very good, they crank it up as far as they can to try and compensate :D Some of the best concerts I've ever been to have been ear shatteringly loud. My audiologist's motto is if yo...

Re: For all you loud engine lovers

I miss the old engines that would put the fear of God in you when they'd come screaming by...but even back then you're kidding yourself if you think the noise from the cars at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve were louder than the traffic you're walking around. Of course you could hear them (I used to skip ...

Re: sold to the man in the dirty raincoat.

I really don't miss those venues, but I miss exciting tracks like Imola and Magny Cours and I fear for other excellent tracks like Monza, Silverstone, Gilles Villeneuve, were the current model to stay in place. Something's got to give, rich oil nations shouldn't be the only ones hosting GPs that fan...

Re: Canadian Grand Prix - Interesting Factsheet!

Okay well aside from the tropical storm effects taking Montreal from a lovely 28C recently to what looks to be 16C/61F and rain for Sunday's race, the cooler thing seems to be a non-issue. I don't know why they woudln't state this in their e-mail, but they've said they will allow a few inches varian...

Re: Canadian Grand Prix - Interesting Factsheet!

Been attending Montreal since 2001, so this year is my 15th race (no race in 2009). That rain delay, was still sitting in Grandstand 21 which was the best section IMO until they brought in the ridiculous new fence, three times as thick, literally three times as tall too, completely ruining the view....

Re: Vote on a Qually format, warning, you will have to read t

Out of the options I prefer #4 just slightly ahead of #2. I don't mind the option they're tabling for a vote, aggregate of two best laps. Doesn't that shake up the grid a little if you mess up one of your laps? Or rather don't you get out there more quickly to ensure if it does happen, that you can ...

Re: Are the Breaks in F1 Too Long?

People keep bringing up the Canada/Europe thing but realistically it's the only time that Canada can be held because of the temperature and weather. As for the 3 week gaps, I do agree it seems a long time to wait for the next race. Maybe with the extra race proposed on the calendar we'll see a more...

Re: Attending a GP

It's super last minute, but does anyone have any suggestions for decently priced accommodations that are near the Montreal GP or at least near a metro line? I had a place to stay, but an emergency on their end makes that no longer an option. I've seen one or two almost decently priced hotels, but t...

Re: New Member introduction thread

Hello, I've been watching F1 off and on since Senna was in a Black JPS Lotus, but was just a youngster at the time. I started watching with more commitment around 1997 living in Canada with Villeneuve's title challenge and have been hooked since. There aren't many drivers I don't like, but Schumi ha...

Re: Attending a GP

Just got my tickets this morning for Montreal (Grandstand 11, Section 2) and booked my plane tickets over the weekend. Which brings me to my next step... booking hotel rooms. I understand transportation to the circuit is good, so lots of options as far as places one could stay... any suggestions on...

Re: Attending a GP

Does anyone know of a good venue for selling tickets? We have an extra pair front row hairpin for Montreal right on the apex and usually eBay is the place where I list, but I wonder if there's a place more F1 folk would look for tickets? We buy a pair beside ours every year for the odd time the spou...
