Re: [MERGED] McLaren's wearing no clothes? / issues sans Hon

Renault is never beating Redbull being realistic, no one comes close in building a chassis like Redbull racing. 1. Don't you ever underestimate Renault, their track record says otherwise. 2. No one has a lifetime season pass at the top, not even RB. 3. Being a works team means having an engine manu...

Re: [MERGED] McLaren's wearing no clothes? / issues sans Hon

I will repeat again if it's the be all and end all why did they walk away from the Renault works engine? Huh? Renault is Renault's works team, its not RB any more. What are you talking about? RB is, as of now, a client team like FI is with Mercedes but obviously with better status because its winni...

Re: When will everyone realize McLaren's wearing no clothes?

One feels that the the Mclaren naysayers will soon be eating humble pie. Alonso recorded 7th fastest race lap, just 0.5s behind HAM & BOT, 0.1s behind RAI and 0.2s faster than VET with that time set on the medium tyre, compared to the others on Soft. They're so slow they can't pass the WDC leader o...

Re: Why don't drivers always defend the inside line?

With DRS and the speed difference it enables at the end of the straights defending the inside is in many cases the worst option; you are in the dirtier side of the track and off line and a whole lot slower than your oponent. Sadly, if your oponent gets it right there is not much you can do in today'...

Bittersweet 6th place

I can't help thinking what is going through Carlos Sainz's head right now. He did a hell of a race finishing 6th but I still think he won't be feeling too happy with how things turned out. His teammate on the past race whith whom he's had his share of encounters has just won his first GP with the te...

MS in Australia 94 should be in there. I think he was in the lead when he crashed against the wall. True that immediately afterwards he had the incident with DH but I'm pretty sure his car was damaged beyond recovery at that point and the initial accident was all on his own.

Apparently, there are some rumors running around that there is a major issue with the redesigned back suspension of the MP4-31 that is causing massive oversteer. An airbag in the helmet is useless. Airbags deploy reacting to sudden acceleration (normally deacceleration), so by definition it would be deploying too late; the object would have already hit the driver's helmet. And a predictive airbag is still in the realm of science fiction. There is no technolo...

Closed cockpits is not the solution. If it was so simple, the decision would have been made a long time ago. There are tons of reasons against it, but to me, the main issues are: 1. Easy and fast extraction of the pilot is compromised. No matter how well designed it is, in a major accident, it can g...

I'm not totally opposed to it as a "gimmick" because plenty of rules in F1 don't make the cars faster, including some that exist for aesthetic reasons (see stepped noses) It does reek of papering over the cracks though, when they need to look at the more fundamental problem of these engines.
