Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Ugh. I don't know how much worse nowtv could get... Been watching it the past few years through my pc monitor as I don't have the space in my room for a TV and now it says HDCP error. From what it says, i understand what it means as it is an unrecognised device and they assume you could be illegally...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Bahrain 2021
I've looked at the lap times and retracted my vote for Kimi, the 2 drivers had identical pace in the race, I'm going to call it a draw. Based on what you are saying though, you are saying their pace is equal in the race, which likely would have given the higher position to Giovinazzi had he not los...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Bahrain 2021
Hamilton - This is quite straight forward although it has to be said that Bottas was very competitive. Verstappen - Again straight forward, poor qualifying from Perez but not his fault he had to start from the pitlane, good recovery drive but never on the pace of Max. Norris - Quicker all weekend b...

Same here voted for Kimi because I was unaware of a pitstop issue for Giovinazzi, as for voting for Gasly he binned it on the first lap, I voted for Tsunoda. ^Good point about Kimi v. Gio, I didn't know about the pitstop issues. I voted the same as you except that I did choose Kimi (largely because...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Bahrain 2021
Most pretty easy even if some are close: Hamilton over Bottas Verstappen over Perez Norris over Ricciardo Stroll over Vettel Alonso over Ocon Leclerc over Sainz Gasly over Tsunoda - this was a bit harder, as gasly looked like he will have ben far better the whole weekend. But that one mistake right ...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
I am confused by the almost unanimous conclusion here that Max is the best qualifier on the grid. He has a total of 4 pole positions after 120 entries. He also has ten wins which says to me that that his race day performance is more than twice as good as his qualifying performance. Max did not take...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
Not too much to disagree with there, I might put Ricciardo nearer to Alonso and I think Russell will end up higher than his present position, Vettel's position would indicate that he's lost about 0.1s in the last couple of years, an indication of decline perhaps. Ricciardo has proven to be a very d...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
Since Invade brought it up, here is what my model suggests for the percent gaps between the quantifiable members of the grid. Tsunoda, Schumacher, and Mazepin are impossible to rate at the moment. For the purposes of compiling this list, I've assumed Russell has the same speed as Bottas. I fully ad...

Funny how the last 15 posts or so in the official Hamilton thread seem to be arguing about how good Vettel was in a race 13 years ago. Some being relevant though and implying it isn't really worth bringing up this far.

The votes are for the people who did not seem to deserve them are telling. As I write this: 2 For Bottas and Mazepin. 1 For Riccardo and Vettel, Alonso. I can see no reason any of these drivers earned a vote. Sure, Riccardo may have had floor damage, and Alsono's car failed which means making they ...

Re: Brawn: Tsunoda F1's Best Rookie for Years
Based on the performance in this race alone, i don't really see it as being that special. That car looked either 3rd or 4th best. Even with perez not getting through, Tsunoda didn't manage to either. He had a bad start which he admitted to and while he recovered to 9th the main reasons he got there ...

Three observations from me: 2) Taken over the entirety of the weekend, when was the last time a rookie put in a worse debut performance than Mazepin? Bottas race pace was exactly equal to Hamiltons, funny how so many jumped on Bottas’ back for this race. I feel Lewis has more to come in this car. It usually takes him 3-4 races to warm up. It might take longer this year with no real pre season. http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?page=chart&gp=105...

I can accept your view on this. However I don't think yesterday was an example of him showing to be his usual slow self and not really trying. He looked more or less on hamilton's pace the whole race and lost around 4 seconds due to Leclerc getting an excellent launch and then a further 8 in the pi...

Re: Which team has the best driver pairing?
While Bottas has shown to not challenge Hamilton often, he hasn't only won when hamilton has had an "off day". There was nothing wrong with Hamilton's performance on race day in the USA in 2019 and the same goes for Japan and Baku that year. Hamilton had bad luck/penalties in Austria 2017 which won...

Re: Which team has the best driver pairing?
RBR v Merc is interesting. I don't think many people would say Verstappen is BETTER than Hamilton, so presumably it means Perez is considered better than Bottas. Unless people have factored in the team aspect and consider a VER/PER line up more effective overall than a HAM/BOT line up even if HAM a...

Norris. I wasn't expecting him to put Ricciardo in the shade. I was actually a little disappointed with Tsunoda. I think Gasly's 5th place in qualifying showed what that car is capable of and if not for his first lap mishap he would've made Tsunoda's result look rather underwhelming. Still, it's on...

Well, I can be corrected if they added this in after midway through the race. But I still have to say that no matter who the driver is, it is pretty stupid if you take a chunk of the lap off the track! This basically shows Hamilton in total will likely have spent around 30 seconds off track, in whic...

Hard to judge how good Ferrari are, but Sainz just seemed ok at best this race. Hamilton is the main one for me. Also think verstappen was very solid, then Norris and Leclerc being the others I'm thinking about.
