Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread

Didn't Leclerc also crash in qualifying yesterday for the Sprint? yes actually, but enough to give himself time to get back out without assistance from the red flag. And the sprint race obviously isn't the main event. They both spun they both survived. My point being is that Sainz will not have had...

Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread

Stupid from Alonso and equally stupid from Sainz, realistically he could have just waited for the DRS zone Where the contact was made with alonso most certainly wasn't equally stupid from both. It wasn't stupid from either. It's exactly what we want to see, good hard racing. Occasionally when racin...

Really enjoying Rosberg on co comms. He's probably the only co commentator that is willing to actually criticise drivers. I'm not keen on some of his opinionated statements. I remember when Sargeant complained of being impeded in SQ1, Rosberg said it cost him nothing at all and then later admitted ...

That was a bonkers SQ3! Some impressives drives, Norris, Hamilton and Alonso on it. Special mention for Zhou too
To be honest, Zhou was dissapointing in q3. While only one position behind bottas, he was 2.5 seconds off which is possibly the furthest he's ever been off bottas in his career.

Great to see that toto is OK with norris getting his lap back. However if Hamilton was improving enough to beat it and he backed off due to seeing it was deleted, Mercedes may well argue against it.

Superb from Hamilton. Rolled back the years. Probably the 6th fastest car out there in this session at best.
Well, there were 6 teams in the top 10. I wouldn't say that Mercedes were worse than Sauber.

All this said, Hamilton was the most impressive driver in the session.

Just realised that Hamilton's retirement was one of only 2 engine related retirements since Austria 2018.

It really is quite amazing that he's only had 3 technical DNFs since near the start of 2018 over the course of 6 years.

I do understand why so many have gone for Tsunoda, but I would argue that the car was pretty solid this weekend. ricciardo also looked pretty close for once in qualifying. I think Bottas has a good start to the year - is it 4-0 now in qualifying against Zhou? At times since the early stages of 2022 I’ve sensed he’s a little disinterested/unmotivated because of Sauber’s lack of competitiveness, but a strong season could mean that he gets a drive in the Audi team.
