Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Britain 2021

I first thought that the votes for Bottas were a bit strange, but that said, this was hamilton's mistake, and it was big enough for him to retire if the outcome hadn't triggered a red flag. If it had, then Bottas will obviously have beaten him, and that may have brought many more votes, despite bein...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Britain 2021

Raikkonen over Giovinazzi -- I saw Hogweed's comments about Kimi potentially being at fault for the collision with Perez, and I reviewed some clips (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSujgsWOzXc). In my opinion, Kimi was entitled to space and got none, so I'm classifying it as Perez's fault and givin...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Britain 2021

does nobody think kimi tried to hang in there along side Perez when he should have known he'd lost out? He barely had his nose along side Perez's rear and should have seen that there was next to no chance of him keeping the position and he had plenty of time to back out. Notice how norris doesn't wa...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Quoting the channel 4 commentators of webber and coulthard after they see the penalty. Webber: "Soft" Coulthard: "Controversial" Webber: " Very soft penalty in my opinion" Coulthard: "That is a controversial one if Russell gets 3 places (laughing)" It is quite clear that they thought that this simpl...

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread

Bottas often hasn't been good at extending his stints and he said he would have gone longer if it wasn't for jumping Norris, but I don't think that will have made any difference. Though some drivers got away well, the commentators mentioned that for some reason, the inside line seemed to be the bett...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton apparently will have had to retire if not for the red flag. The 2nd time this season where a red flag saved him from a very bad result instantly after his own mistakes. His recovery drives on both occations were great, but the luck hamilton seems to get after big mistakes is simply extreme ...

Räikkönen, Leclerc and Verstappen. I'm still a bit critical of Verstappen's aggression, but that's what it seems to take if you don't have the superior car. Can't understand the votes for Kimi or Verstappen. Verstappen raced for a few corners and that was it. Kimi did well initially, but the commen...

Re: Inconsistent penalties (or lack of them) on first lap incidents

The 10 second penalty that Lewis got for the first lap incident seems very much in line with the other penalties that the FIA and the stewards have been handing out this year. The thing is, I think hamilton is the first one to get a penalty in the first lap in the last couple of years (excluding fa...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

Does any F1 fan actually believe Verstappen beat Hamilton to pole? well, he did what he needed to to qualify ahead, and he indeed did as he started in pole position. But strangely, Hamilton got a Pole position and victory statistic to his name! Work that one out..... as much as i don't like this qu...

I'm sorry, but Chandok wondering if any penalty would have been given if it was a midfield incident and saying that 5 seconds would have been enough of a penalty, is just wrong. I truly believe a penalty would have been given regardless. Look at Russell in the Sprint. look at the thread i created f...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Verstappen lost 25 points in baku and likely 25 here (if not, 18). Hamilton gained at least 10 in Imola after his mistake too due to extreme luck after the safety car. Verstappen certainly should be over 50 points ahead to be representetive. And even if we account for the fact the red bull has been ...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread

i simply can't deny the recovery drive from hamilton was outstanding. effectively 20 seconds ahead of Bottas if you ignored the penalty. Still, the level of mistakes hamilton is making is too many, and given he took his rival out, I still certainly don't believe he deserved the race win.

perez has no chance of even getting points. Not that Bottas is having a great season, but you probably have to say that Bottas would be a better team mate for Verstappen than Perez - if perez continues like this.

well, bottas hasn't always been great at restarts and norris will probably be pretty quick behind him, and he likely will have a bit of difficulty passing leclerc. But yes, he really should win.

well channel 4 didn't really hesitate to blame hamilton for this, and they usually really praise him, so i can't really see any reason to defend him, and not getting a pretty big penalty for that will be surprising, though it is the first lap.
