Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
What do we think prevented Tsunoda getting a penalty for forcing Stroll off? Was it down to these rules that Verstappen always uses to his advantage of whoever gets to the apex first has the corner? Tsunoda did, but Stroll left space and still had his front wing and left front wheel slightly ahead o...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Austria 2025
A quick turnaround for Silverstone means a quick write up from my side. Half of the field retain a 100% record versus their teammate after the Canada vote, with Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, George Russell, Isack Hajdar and Nico Hulkenberg all continuing their perfect starts. With ten races dow...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
I think the difference is quite easily explained... Stroll moved across in an intentional racing move. Colapinto just didn't know Piastri was there. It is just that 5 seconds is basically the most lenient it can be. Drivers ignoring blue flags get much worse than this. He must have known that a lea...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
That is ridiculous. 5 seconds?? Stroll got 10 for doing basically the same to a driver who decided to drive into a closing gap. Colapinto was literally required to move out of the way, not push the leaders off the track. That should be a drive through IMO. It was dangerous... I think the difference...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Austrian Grand Prix
I think the main ones are Hulkenberg and Lawson. Maybe Alonso too. I think Bortoletto's result is not as good as many are implying. As is often the case, first points and rare decent / good performances can swing the votes a bit. Hulkenberg after a very poor Saturday showed just how good that Sauber...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Alonso holding back the much faster Bortoleto was masterclass driving! It was partially related to being a rookie / lack of experience as to the fact that Alonso managed to hold Bortoleto behind though. Bortoleto made quite a big error near the end. He could easily have had Alonso if he didn't atte...

Bit of a rookie judgement from Bortoletto there. He shouldn't have allowed Alonso to get DRS.

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Well, whoever this commentator is constantly gets the team mates mixed up. So often saying Stroll instead of Alonso, or the other way round. Said Russell collided with Verstappen at the start. In terms of mistakes, I think he is worse than Crofty. Chandhok is great though. Chandhok and Brundle would...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Tsunoda has been awful this race. Crashing into Stroll and colapinto.
I don't see how these mistakes are the teams fault. Drivers as a team mate to Verstappen just seem to make so many silly errors.

That incident between Tsunoda and Stroll was clearly caused by Tsunoda. Stroll gave plenty of space and still got pushed off track - involving contact.

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
What can be said now that Lawson was able to qualify 6th in Austria? He's the same driver who qualified dead last in his first & only 2 races with Red Bull? Should we assume Lawson has now become that good or can we safely say that the second Red Bull car is the toughest seat to qualify in (Tsunoda...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
The first truly impressive thing Norris has done all season really. Good job. But does he have an upgrade that Piastri does not? His first lap certainly was impressive, as was his 2nd, but we don't really know just how impressive it was given Verstappen and his team mate both got robbed of a 2nd lap.

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
I think Lawson was probably the most impressive driver this session, or Bortoletto. I personally think that the Sauber has been a lot better recently, and Hulkenberg just never got it together in Q1. Hulkenberg was very inconsistent last year and had some weekends where he just had no pace. This cou...

I am a bit surprised that Russell and Antonelli have so many more votes than Verstappen. I believe that the Red Bull was clearly worse than Mercedes and also McLaren this weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eytD94HXx4A Maybe a bit of a strange thing to compare, but I think Russell was trying harder here to get verstappen another penalty that Verstappen was trying to hit russell last race. Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
There are rather a lot of highlights today, but just neither of the McLaren drivers for a change. Russell was perfect, but didn't have a challenge. Verstappen arguably was FAR better than his car realistically can archive, probably with any other driver. I would find it hard not to vote for him if I...

The way crofty calmly states that Alonso is passing Tsunoda. If that was Verstappen getting passed by a Ferrari, that would be an absolute shock. It does basically seem that no matter how bad the 2nd Red Bull driver is, it is just seen as normal.

Where did that come from by Russell? Well done! Norris and Leclerc shockers. Leclerc hit dirty air / air turbulances from Hadjar. Well ut of the drivers that I listed for fighting for pole, only Verstappen and Russell delivered. Leclerc and Norris had a terrible Q3. Piastri was better than expected, but I think McLaren should have been able to get pole. But that is what makes P7 even worse for Norris. In Q3, Norris is so incon...
