Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

Just looking at the pit stop summery - Kimi did a 1 stop. And he finished best of the bottom 3 teams 4 seconds ahead of grosjean. I didn't realise this and think it deserves quite a bit of credit. I think it was just him and Leclerc that pulled this off.

Re: The official NICO HULKENBERG Thread

If Hulk had gotten Bottas' Merc drive, how well do you reckon he'd have done? The same or worse. I don't see Hulk as having any strengths Bottas lacks, and I wouldn't rate his outright pace quite as high. I think he possibly he is better in terms of overtaking when there is an opportunity than Bott...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

It does look like the Hulkengerg votes are going the way I expected. Looking at it from the point of view like this: Which driver won the battle? Well it was Stroll clearly with RP's report. Hulkenberg got serious vibration that couldn't make it to the end despite being in clean air the entire race...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

Hamilton didn’t have vibrations so Mercedes had no need to pit him. Sorry, but Hamilton was not sounding AT ALL happy with his tyres right after Bottas pitted. He said "something's wrong with the car to make the left rear do that" This wasn't the only complaint from Hamilton. He sounded like he wan...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

Are you ignoring the reasoning for the timing of Bottas’ second stop? It seemingly isn’t to do with what was left in his tyres but to do with vibrations. But Hamilton didn't sound happy either?? and he also sounded like he wanted to pit but Mercedes wanted him to stay out. None of Bottas's messages...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

Bottas over Hamilton - This was extremely close and can see it being that way with the votes too. Bottas edged him in qualifying and hamilton may have had more speed - but there was very little in it. The speed made his tyres suffer so he dropped back in both the 1st and 2nd stint. Both times it lo...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

If I had voted directly after the race I would have given it to Bottas, it seemed like he had been let down on strategy, but then I thought you can only make an overcut work if you are essentially faster, for some reason Bottas' last stint must have been quite poor and it's not like he was pitted u...

Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

How nice of Mercedes to give the worse driver the superior strategy. Bottas was given what was thought to be the optimal strategy at the time. It was only the fact that Max stopped at the same time to cover him that meant they decided to roll the dice and keep Hamilton out as it was a certainty tha...

How nice of Mercedes to give the worse driver the superior strategy. Given bottas's tyres were in far better condition than Hamilton's...

Also Hulk is close as I think his finishing position was dictated by a crazy extra stop. Would like some clarification as to why that was made. Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

Yeh well Max is keeping in touch and Mercedes will be wary and edge more and more toward Lewis going forward, I reckon. Also can't forget the potential for reliability to impact the standings. For all of Merc's dominance Max is only slightly more than 1 DNF behind Hamilton. And for all of Merc's do...

I don't think the win was on for Bottas', but obviously second place would have been easy had the team given done right by him with strategy. He perhaps could have made a more spirited defence against Max in the second stint, but ultimately Merc had enormous issues with the tyres today. Although to...

Bottas didn't even try to overtake Verstappen after he pit. Hard luck on him but he's been very passive as usual. Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

That is really unfair on Bottas. He had a team instruction to box just behind Verstappen when his tyres were in far better shape - and he looked as quick as Hamilton at this stage. Then Hamilton gets to go longer. Given that Hamilton got by with 2 laps left, I think it is almost certain that Bottas...

I think hulk has got P3 in the bag here. Very impressive. It begs the question what Perez has been doing to be nip and tuck with Stroll in qualifying. To be fair it's a very small data sample. Race 1 he beat Stroll, Race 2 it was wet where Perez is generally poor, Race 3 he was unwell. Last season ...

Hamilton and Bottas will have the same strategy, it will be M-H-H. Bottas didnt get into Hamiltons DRS once last week and to even make a challenge for position you need to be so much faster than the car in front. Typical of me to be the one to mention this.
