Re: Grosjean's Horrific Crash (Bahrain 2020) [Merged]

Warning - another update. His hands somehow look worse now they are starting to heel a bit better but that is pretty normal. https://www.planetf1.com/news/romain-grosjean-hand-burns/ Him targetting a return for Abu Dhabi now looks like it never could have been realistic. Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Abu Dhabi 2020

Guessing it is because it is around Christmas time and a boring race that there is a big chunk (around 30%) less votes than last time?

Looking back, I don't think there have been any with even close to this low number of votes an most have significantly more with several being over double.

Re: The Official Sir Lewis Hamilton thread

I look forward to Crofty saying "...and here come Sir Lewis Hamilton, down the Hamilton Straight to win his eighth British Grand Prix!" (I'm only joking, I never look forward to anything Crofty says) When Sir Lewis finally retires, I'm sure Silverstone and F1 will rename the British race the Hamilt...

Re: MORE Bad Luck in 2020: Bottas or Verstappen?

As a fan of Bottas, I will give my view. I think he is not good at tyre management. But interestingly, it has been more noticeable in the past few years as the tyres don't seem as good as they used to be at coping with the way the cars are set up. but other drivers manage to deal with them better t...

 As someone who wants to see Hamilton's only opposition at least try and win the WDC it's incredibly frustrating. Re: MORE Bad Luck in 2020: Bottas or Verstappen?

I hadn’t seen this thread until now, but Verstappen was clearly the unluckier driver of the two in 2020 and I don’t see any argument that can be made otherwise. Anyway, the amount of excuses Bottas gets made for him for being a thoroughly mediocre driver is staggering. Bad at starts, overtaking, de...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Abu Dhabi 2020

Is looking like Leclerc vs Vettel are going to be the 2nd closest pair of team mates in terms of percentage of votes for team mate wars this year. Currently, the Haas pair are barely any closer than that too! You wouldn't have thought that this forum thinks that these two are about the closest team ...

Re: How will Perez perform against Max?

Looking at some of Racefans statistics here. It mentions some for every driver, but Verstappen's and Albon's are interesting. It is hard to imagine a driver doing worse than Albon in this regard though. 28 out of 756 racing laps spent ahead of Verstappen..... And it 26 of them was when Verstappen sp...

Who voted for Hamilton, Latifi and Giovinazzi? I do wonder Although it usually is correct to vote for Perez, I think these votes are a bit odd too really. I just can't see any reason to vote either. The only thing we can conclude from his race is that he overtook the 6 slowest cars in 10 laps. Then...

Nice top 6 there Mikes but Ocon, Vettel and Bottas above the McLaren drivers and Stroll in 20th? I think gasly was treated just as poorly, but he seemed to come back from it better - and faster. Kvyat is now like a recovered Gasly, but Gasly has now got to being at least a very good driver while Kvyat is just decent overall i think. Still think he deserves to be on the grid though. Re: MORE Bad Luck in 2020: Bottas or Verstappen?

Surely Verstappen? 5 non fault retirements really took him out of contention. Just one less and he would have beaten Bottas to 2nd. Bottas was actually pretty lucky really. His only competition in the WDC suffered worse luck than he did. I would put Sakhir as a 1/2 non fault retirement as Max could...

On the F1 site, I voted Latifi, and did so again here. I felt he did well yesterday. So did Alexander Albon. I would have liked to see him overtake Hamilton, but it wasn't to be. Stroll is pathetic. I will admit he's been disappointing lately, but I still have to point out that he was either very solid in the first half, or if he was also "pathetic" then, then Perez was pretty much as bad. ok, so some of leclerc's track actions had been counted twice and it has only recently been 3 times he exceeded track limits. But he has done so againce AFTER getting the black and white flag. So where is the news of this penalty? Vettel may have a chance of beating him now if he gets this penalty.

how can leclerc not be getting a penalty for 4 off track warnings? Has he been shown the B&W flag yet? He should have recieved the black and white flag on the 3rd warning - then the 4th warning being a penalty like Grosjean got one time this year. But the stewards seem to ignore leclerc sometimes.

Is Bottas holding Hamilton up? It's pretty unusual for Bottas to be faster so you'd guess so. If Hamilton was being held up, you would have thought he would drive at least a bit closer rather than 3 - 4 seconds. Surely around 2 seconds would do no harm to his tyres? Mercedes just don't look quick t...

Right, especially as Bottas isn’t under performing. Bottas is second in the championship, and Mercedes easily got the WDC and WCC. They’ve literally maximised their result. If he was doing an Albon then there would be a reason to pay big bucks to fast track George. Bottas is actually doing an Albon...

It wouldn’t completely offset, they would have to pay Bottas his 2021 wages (maybe more for break of contract) and then pay Williams to break George’s contract. Williams demanded $12 million to break Bottas’ contact back in 2017 and Mercedes paid it. I imagine George would be that amount or more. S...
