they are not practical enough for the majority of people to make the jump. Not yet. Not quite yet, no. As for the Taycan charging time, that is a huge leap forward and it will improve. Of course 23 mins is still too long but then I reflect that the last time I filled up at one of those petrol stati...

Re: How long will F1 remain a fossil fuel sport? (SPLIT THRE

If you advocate for this technology shift, you can't afford to be so flippant about what will be the biggest recycling project in human history. What about site rehab for the approximately 115 thousand petrol stations in the US alone? Who's going to pay for all this? Oh wait - it's going to be the ...

[ICE's are still being churned out by the worlds manufacturers in the millions per month, each one with a lifespan of many decades - more if maintained correctly. What happens to these engines? Can you imagine the waste involved in phasing out ICE's? ICE production slowly ramps down over the next f...

Re: How long will F1 remain a fossil fuel sport? (SPLIT THRE

F1 Mercenary: Of course it will take decades to build a new infrastructure and of course this change will expend energy and create new problems to be tackled, but that would be the case whatever the nature of the new power unit in question. Bottom line is that locally emitting ICEs are on the way ou...

Re: How long will F1 remain a fossil fuel sport? (SPLIT THRE

electric vehicles are not as clean and good for the environment as people are led to believe. It at least localises airborne emission from cars into one area - the power station. Electric PUs are more operationally efficient. ICE engines have more moving parts and a huge amount of energy is lost as...

I'm sure they don't use cheap components, but that's a bit of an overstatment. It's mostly an economy of scale. They're all hand built to a greater extent than mass-produced electronics.

Raikkonen looks burnt out and bored. He was a blazing talent in the early years but I think the spark has gone. Not sure why he's still doing F1 to be honest. Perhaps he doesn't know what else to do with himself. Some drivers don't cope well with getting older....

Never understood how Sutil has managed to survive so long without doing anything notable. Perez has had podiums. Hulkenberg grabbed a pole. Kobayashi made some great passes and won a podium.

There's certainly a push to get younger buyers. They'd grown very a middle aged image over the 90s.

I'm seeing alot of young, trendy childless folk (with a bit of cash) floating around in those new A Classes these days.

In cricket and golf it's known as "The Yips". Time will tell. I doubt it. I think the OP makes a valid point. We have often seen the two drivers split on strategy. It's a hedge that serves the team but not always the drivers. With the WCC wrapped up they should let them off the leash.
