Re: 2019 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Controversy aside, Honda is once again on the top step of the podium in F1. That deserves some respect. Wonder how McLaren are feeling tonight? McLaren? What about Ferrari? 2 races in a row they come out on the short end of things. On the other hand, see what happens when the racing gods frown on M...

Re: 2019 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
I hope the win stands.
Great race, decent result.(This coming from a longtime Tifosy.)
I think it's up in the air because of the contact. If there were NO contact, it would be a slam dunk. No penalty. But the contact muddies the water.

Re: ESPN Failed already
Well, my fellow American viewers, we have seen zero coverage thus far. Practice was scheduled tonight at @ 9:55-11:00 and what is on? A very pathetic sports talk show. Wow. This is gonna be painful I think. Yup I expected nothing else. Just wait until tomorrow when they pre-empt the qualifying for ...

Re: The End of an American Motorsports Broadcasting Institut
Just wait until ESPN starts pre-empting the practices with women's basketball, and curling. Same way they used to do when they carried CART and NASCAR events. Taped delay, or nothing at all. And let's not get started with the Thursday night thunder, and AMA flat track coverage. When they were purcha...

Re: Jody Scheckter's retirement and South Africa in F1
When I was growing up in the USA (Michigan), I subscribed to National Speed sport news. I ate up F1 news, and was a huge Jody/Jacky fan. I had a poster in my room of Jody in a F 5000 car in the rain (I don't know where) with the thing cocked sideways, he's in total opposite lock with one hand on the...

Just do away with fuel restrictions.HS Thompson wrote:This is the second trial balloon from Bernie to get rid of the hybrid engines. Where there is smoke, there is fire. I support all efforts to get rid of the hybrid engines. Go Bernie!!!
This will solve MANY problems.

Re: Tell me why this wouldn't work.
I have gone to more GP's than I can remember and I will NEVER pay another penny to see F1 as long as they continue to race these ridiculous engines. I must concur with this^^^^^^^^^^ I've been to seven U.S.G.P.s, all during the pre-turbo era. I'll not spend another penny on F1 (Including TV charges...

Re: Tell me why this wouldn't work.
I feel very strongly that the new engines being of a volume that I can stand to listen to without ear protection is a good thing, Well, From now on, I guess we'll have to let you and Bernie get together and approve the noise levels that are appropriate for your vaginally purposed ear canals. And we...

Tell me why this wouldn't work.
V-10, or V8
2.4 litre, unrestricted RPM.
Normally aspirated, electronic fuel injection.
7 speed max Gearbox
Replaceable (during pit stops) battery pack, charged off car. Augmented by braking energy generation.
No refueling.

Re: Why I am seriously considering turning off F1
I've never seen any credible study that finds engine noise to be responsible, however. How about this study: I've been to seven U.S.G.P.s, starting in 2000. I've followed F1 for many years. I'll go to Spa or Silverstone, when they stop racing lawnmower engines. As for the rest of the arguments, Thi...

You can't have your cake and eat it, and unfortunately petrol is running out What? How is "petrol running out"? There's plenty of corn to be grown, plenty of oil to be pumped and plenty of LNG to be fracked. What a silly statement. This is F1 racing, not fuel conservation. The stupid greenies are r...

Re: Sprint cars/ World of Outlaw cars.. what are these "beas
I was extremely lucky to have a dad that loves these cars, and actually raced for a short time. We followed mostly USAC cars, starting in the 70s. Then, the racing was about fifty/fifty dirt and pavement. All on short ovals though. We got to pit some of the local guys for a while, but it's a tough l...

Re: Is Alonso to blame for Ferrari's poor cars?
It would be a pretty weak case. Although Alonso has done his best to drive around certain problems, the main problems in the car are still plain to see for even the fans, let alone the team (i.e. lack of downforce, poor traction, loose rear end). One word.......Braking. I truly feel that the "unsta...
