Re: F1, Racism & BlackLivesMatter

Erm, arresting is not sentencing. He isn't saying jail or execute the cops. Arresting is what happens to people who are suspected of a crime - and then they get tried in a court of law. The issue is that they haven't been arrested. I do know that. I also think that there is a strong distinction bet...

I don't particularly like mixing politics with sport but I don't have any issue with what Hamilton did. I expect he got more eyes on that shirt than he would have done if he wore the shirt tomorrow, or called a press conference tomorrow or posted on whatever social media he uses. I do think that he ...

Re: How F1 should ultimately be formatted

The race should be the race. If I an P1 when the chequered flag gets waved, I should be the winner and I should get the most points. I'm very much against aggregate times being used. The race should last, ideally, 90 mins +/- 15 mins, with odd exceptions allowable. The 1.5 hour is a good length for ...

It was fair. I don't blame LH so much, I don't recall seeing the pitlane entry close before. I remember the exit closing a few times (and LH shunting Kimi in Canada 08). Mercedes at least had short notice and were first to the pits, Alfa must have noticed that NO ONE ELSE CAME IN??? To me, that'd ha...

Before this path is even ventured down, I want to see how the budget caps work out. I'm hoping that mostly we'll have a closer field, and so that a driver can perform a little better at a certain track and that might be all the difference. And, of course, the dirty air issue that never seems to be s...

A Quiet Place (it's on UK Netflix). In many ways, it's a bloody masterpiece. It's like someone saw that Buffy episode "Hush" where there is a good 15 or so minutes without any dialogue and decided to go nuts with it. The first word isn't spoken until about 38 mins in. It's all about being quiet. Joh...

Altered Carbon Season 2. It's not so great. I really enjoyed S1. I thought it was a world that made sense within it's own rules. House of Cards S6. Or, at least the first 2 episodes of it. Well, to begin with I must say that House of Cards was pretty much in nosedive. There is a point. In the last 10 years we have had 4 teams that you could consider top seats - Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. Actually quite a good question for a bit of hypothetical fun. If we assume that Hamilton has the same level of mechanical reliability as 2017, I give that season to Hamilton. 2018 I also think would likely end up in favour of Hamilton. Of course, if Rosberg is there and the two Mercedes are frequent...

The 2006 GP2 season, where I first heard of Hamilton, doesn't seem that long ago. I still remember the pit lane at China 2007 that nail biter at Interlagos in 2008 like they were yesterday. I'm not a Hamilton fan in particular but 5 world titles is one hell of an accomplishment.

My take on this whole thing. I don't think Red Bull would intentionally sabotage Ricciardo. I'd generally go WDC as top category and then race wins and then some order of podiums and poles but the first two are the big ones. If Kimi had 50 wins, I could see an argument for 1WDC and 50 wins being more successful than 2WDC and 20 wins so it's not definitive, but as a general rule it works fo...

I'd put my metaphorical money on Vettel. I'd guess that if Vettel were to get 6 poles, Leclerc would get 1 - around that ratio. For races, if Vettel won 4, Leclerc would win 1 or a similar ratio.
