Re: It was always about money - Bourdais
As a fairly new fan, since 2008, to me Monaco is more about the challenge of the circuit to the drivers than the racing action. More of an 'All-Star' event if you like, unique to the season. I think it's often underplayed just how much accuracy and consistency (and bottle) is required to drive the ...

Yes. Grid girls. There is NO other answer. I double checked the poll and then, just to be sure, checked a third time, and it turns out there are three other answers. sex sells and is very easy with girls , but how the hell are you gonna do it with boys , and don't tell me it won't head in...

Re: The eternal 'what if...?'
No, they wouldn't ask Nico to move over. He shouldn't have to suffer from the team's mistakes If they did ask, Nico wouldn't do it. And rightly so. Indeed. I wonder what the reaction would have been like had the roles been reversed and Rosberg had been the one in Lewis' shoes. I doubt there'd be th...

Re: The eternal 'what if...?'
Nope because Lewis was partly responsible for the call to pit. He mistakenly thought Rosberg and Vettel had pitted themselves and Lewis decided he wanted supersoft tyres as a result. The team could have, and did initially, told him to stay out but Lewis was insistent he wanted fresh tyres. He threw...

Re: Will Alonso get fed up with the underperforming Mclaren?
Mercedes entered the sport in 2010 as a full on works team. McLaren fought for the title in 2010 and 2012 so your argument falls apart there. Last year McLaren had use of the best power unit but built a terrible chassis. The Honda so far this year has been proven to be pretty decent when they can g...

Re: Will Alonso get fed up with the underperforming Mclaren?
I don't think Alonso cares about finishing 3rd in the WDC. If Vettel finishes 3rd in the WDC this year but Alonso wins it in 2016 then Feranando hasmade the right choice. I just dont see it happening that soon. McLaren has struggled for the last 4 seasons, even with the class leading engine in 2014...

To those wanting a merge, while this is predominantly an F1 forum, each Indy race has for a while now had its own thread. I don't see any reason to restrict Indy threads, especially when we've been a bit lax recently with merging similar F1 ones. It muddies things and the person who makes these thr...

Maldanado now and Graham Hill as the best of all time. Alesi was also always very good. Maldonado's only F1 result in Monaco is an 18th place. I'd hardly call him a Monaco master even if he can be quick there over one lap on occasion. Alonso always there or thereabouts but Monaco master? I'm not so...

The reduced engine noise is the only reason I've finally been able to convince my sister to go to a Grand Prix with me. I don't really have the time to look through and check but I would guess the most static race would come from 2005 or 2006 The nature of qualifying in 2005 meant a lot of the time cars would be much further up the grid than they really should have been (light fuel glory laps) and they'd often fall ...

I seem to recall reading something about Belgium 1997, I think? Certainly a season around then had a top 10 that stayed static, then one later on that had almost the entire field holding station. When they are talking about 6 seconds faster is that per lap or per race? Per race sounds like not a lot faster but per lap seems quite a jump in performance. Licks lips... Per lap. My worry is that we go from here to that in just one season. That's a massive jump in speed for a lot of these driver...

There were plenty of races ten years ago where the stands where half empty. The noise is the least of F1's issues at the moment and one of the easiest/cheapest things to change. Try the cost of tickets, try the growing number of obscure (from an automotive perspective) locations F1 seems to be deter...

I'm in the minority but I'm glad it's coming back. I'm sick of this fuel-management era, it goes against everything that 'racing' stands for. As long as the tyres are solid then we should still see some great battles out on track. If people are that concerned with the apparent lack of overtaking wh...

Those shoes are custom made for the race drivers, I don't think the general public can buy them. Puma do make Mercedes trainers though, but not quite in the same style as race boots.

This sounds like we just want to pick the four most dynamic drivers. The ones most likely to go for a gap, the most likely to lay it all on the line. For me that isn't Alonso, Button, Bottas or others that have been chosen. Surely it's people like Massa, Maldonado, Hamilton. Maldonado/Hamilton/Pere...
