Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

https://i.imgur.com/GXxe9R4.png Source - Imgur Palmer believes this was the critical moment where Bottas is tucked behind Norris & probably had no downforce assistance to stop. I still feel Norris wasn't too aggressive as it's a driver's instinct to try to gain as many positions (safely of course)....

Since everyone else has to run with enough fuel to have that much left at the end it's effectively the same as running an underweight car. The question of whether that amount is always completely necessary for analysis doesn't come into it

That was brutal from Mercedes. Used both cars perfectly. Slowed down the outlap to the extent that no one was fast in the first sector and Perez didn't even get over the line. Then as soon as it was clear that Lewis was safe he abandoned just enough that he dropped back into Max's air to protect Bot...

I have switched from against to 'ehhhhhhh' - but the closest is to say 'in favour' I'm in favour because it's clear they are going to change the format, and this doesn't really change the format at all. It's just a 400km race with a red flag after the first 100km. People can start bleating on about...

Leclerc, Hamilton and Norris. For the people choosing Alonso what exactly did he do? 7th probably in a car that probably didn't warrant that finish. I don't buy the debris on track explanation. TV coverage of Stroll's car on the flatbed showed that the sidewall had separated at least 40% of the way round the tire at/near tread line. I can't see how such comprehensive damage can be caused by debris not visible on TV. Driver's don't win races by ...

The issue with altering Monaco is speed. If you extended any straight and top speed increased by another 20 or 30 mph, the lack of run-off would make it completely unsafe. You'd still have some of Avenue JFK left as a run off similar to Nouvelle now and cars are already reaching 290kph before the c...

After a race with very little on track action and much faster cars unable to overtake, inevitably the question of whether Monaco deserves to be a place where modern F1 cars race. It would be fairer to have a cut off for fastest laps, something like laps remaining or from last pit stop.
At the moment it rewards cars that are slowest of the group of cars they are competing with and happen to have a decent gap to the rest.

A similar approach could just be to do a sector 3 - 1 - 2 qualifying lap, which would fit with the current F1 terminology. I prefer this idea. Still a effectively a full timed lap but only requiring 2 circuits in total: A 2 sector warm up after pit exit that would usually be pretty brisk anyway and...
