Abiteboul leaves renault.

As reported on pitpass. ESPN. Motorsports.com and others. Cyril Abiteboul has left renault/Alpine racing effectively immediately. I personally didnt see this coming. I expected ferrari to have a massive clear out after a terrible 2019. But renault were on the up. 3 podiums and a resurgence was in th...

Re: Suzuka 1990 vs Adelaide 1994

In my view though the eventual outcome was justified - 1994 was probably one of the most "manufactured" title fights to have ever existed, after Senna's unfortunate demise. Hill would have been nowhere in the fight were it not for the people in power hobbling Schumacher every step of the way - it w...

Re: Suzuka 1990 vs Adelaide 1994

There is a different perception of Schumacher and Senna. The casual probably thinks cynical cheat with Schumacher, and flawed genius with Senna. My own theory on that is F1 is massively British based and Damon Hill is very much part of the motorsport establishment. If 1994 had involved a collision ...

Re: Suzuka 1990 vs Adelaide 1994

This is why I regard Lewis Hamilton as the best of all time. He has surpassed both without controversy and unfair driving. Surpassing in numbers and surpassing in status are quite different - for many (including myself), Hamilton struggles to make the top 5 GOATs, let alone the singular best. Perha...

I would add a craviat to point 4 jezza13. Re: Suzuka 1990 vs Adelaide 1994

I dont think that hill did it on purpose in either of the cases. Both adelaide in 1994 and Silverstone the following year. I think that both instances are a racing incident. It is a driver who's going for the banzai move where someone like ricciardo would be able to pull it off. Whereas hill I dont ...

Flipping the coin for a minute, which drivers were disproportionately bad in the wet. If you get P(wins in dry) and P(wins in wet) then you have a metric as to whether the wet race improves or hinders their ability to win. I've quickly run the numbers for the three rainmasters and Button: Ayrton Senna Dry Starts: 139, Dry wins: 27 (26%), Dry Podiums: 64 (63%) Wet-Dry Win % Differenc...
