Re: POLL: Hamilton/Giovinazzi penalties

No driver is ever looking to the outside of any corner. In fact, it would be dangerous for them to be looking to the outside of a corner as they wouldnt be looking where they were going. Their eyes are on the apex. There should have been lights on the inside of parabolica and a light at the entry o...

Re: POLL: Hamilton/Giovinazzi penalties

I don't see how they missed the signs when the signs are the same ones used for yellow flags. I do wonder if the fact it's very very rare for the pit lane to be closed, made a difference. Drivers have a light on their steering wheel which comes on when yellows are deployed. Also, nearly every other...

Re: POLL: Hamilton/Giovinazzi penalties

I think this is kind of the wrong question - the penalty is the listed in the rules so the stewards don't have much discretion. What went wrong here was a failure of safety. If the pitlane is closed, it's for a safety-related reason, and so it should be blindingly obvious to all concerned that the ...

Re: POLL: Hamilton/Giovinazzi penalties

I have no issue with how harsh the punishment was - I actually think its spot on. What the issue is here is there was no appropriate light showing the pit lane was closed. Those saying "ah, but there was a cross on the outside of parabolica" - yes you are right, there was, but NOT AN APPROPRIATE ONE...

The apology means nothing, it was just a kind gesture to say that sort of thing when he doesn't really care whether he comes 3rd or 7th in this race with the WDC title already in the bag. If this race mattered to LH, he would have been saying ''Albon was crazy to be turning in on me like that'' or ...

Albon lacks speed but that move on Vettel from outside was very skillful. He deserved a podium just for that. Quite baffling why Hamilton has not been handed over penalty for running into him. Kvyat would not even allowed to be podium or being interviewed if he was there instead of Hamilton :uhoh: ...

I've nothing against Albon (unlike F1 Racer, I actually kind of like him), but I find it a bit weird the standard to which he's held. Masterclass in car and tyre management by Hamilton today. He had damage to his car which would have probably made tyre wear worse yet he still made those hards last for a stupid length of time. Red Bull. Newey has pretty good form with big regulation changes. Had the Renault been more powerful, Red Bull would have been challenging Mercs every year they have won. Honda performance is getting better and I reckon by 2021 will be competitive.

Also, why is no one mentioning about Lewis crowding Seb off the track at the same corner? I've raced karts and it's just not black and white. It depends on the situation. Karts are not F1 cars anyway so I don't know how much you can translate that. When you put your right foot down in an F1 car, there are a lot more horses responding than in a go-kart. I raced karts as well, from my exp...

What is most funny in this thread is the folks saying Vettel was on the power, if you have ever driven a kart or turned all the safety systems in a car off you will understand why he was on the power to counteract the oversteer and turning into it! He lost the back of the car because he applied the throttle as soon as he rejoined the track, so keen was he to keep his position.
