Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: France 2021

Verstappen. Hamilton. Norris. Gasly. Vettel. Alonso. Sainz. Giovinazzi. Russell. Schumacher. A lot of it pretty much reflects Sundays finishing order - and I really don't have much to add to that! Re: Baku!Paul Ricard Fastest Laps

Hamilton 1 stopped though so its not a great comparison. It shows just how high degradation was, fastest laps around 7 seconds off qualifying pace is very high, clearly a 2 stop was the best way to go here. It would have been interesting if Max had caught Hamilton and passed him with 10-11 laps to ...

Re: 2021 Red Bull vs 2017 and 2018 Ferrari

A good question to ask is if 2021 Max Verstappen was driving the 2017/2018 Ferrari: a) when would the title have been decided and who won it b) what the score would have been after 7 races (and it's probably worth basing this against a Max win / Hamilton 3rd result for Baku) Important distinction: ...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread

What was up with Ferrari this race? Both Sainz and Leclerc went many places backwards. In qualifying, their car certainly looked better than Aston Martin for example, But in the race, Stroll managed to go from 19th to beating Sainz. While Sainz started 5th and finished 11th. Given it was both drive...

I want to give it to Schumacher, but I can't with that crash. I'm giving it to Russell because I think his aborted red flag lap at the end of Q1 looked to be on to somethign special. Slightly strange in FP1 so far. Red Bull much quicker than Merc on the hards but Merc found so much more time on the softs than Red Bull and are now 0.4 clear. What I’m confused about is why they’re swapping if it’s about mileage? Surely they’ll both do similar mileage this weekend so the swap doesn’t make sense. Leclerc took several races to get up to speed, so I wouldn't say immediately unless Ericsson was seriously under rated in 2018. The rookies have all disappointed so far. I suppose it's a bit unfair that with F2 getting so much attention these days they come to F1 already well known with high expectations, but even so they're not IMO worthy of a job in what we are told is the "pinnacle" of motorsport. Re: When did the modern champions decline?

There was a time when F1 drivers didn't need to anticipate a long career, as a good number of them died early at the wheel. With the (welcomed) focus on safety in the 70's and 80's, drivers could think about racing til they were in their thirties... thinking about retiring rather than dying. This c...
