Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

This thread has turned into a hyperbole see-saw. Such extreme views on both sides. The truth resides somewhere near the middle. Haha absolutely! I think the poll accurately describe the situation. If anyone is to blame it's Lewis, but we're content to have it be a racing incident. If they both suff...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Is it reasonable to assume that Hamilton ran wide out of Copse because his car was briefly destabilised by the contact? I would imagine Max's car would be more of a door stop rather than a magnet? Joking aside, I think the issue was the understeer, not the contact. Contact will always make that car...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

So just asking the question here. Corner speed aside & keeping in mind that at one point Hamilton was virtually level with Verstappen, by how much does this incident differ from Verstappens pass on Leclerc in Austria in 2019? Verstappen was slightly behind going into the corner the same as Hamilton...

Good points. If it's possible to extract him from his Merc contract would Russell take a Red Bull drive in 2022 or would he wait for Merc to see if they came back in 2023. I have no qualms about calling Hamilton or any other driver out on their mistakes whenever they make them, but I can't recall the last time Hamilton made contact with another driver outside of Rosberg in Spain 2016 (...) Russell to Red Bull A possibility, if Mercedes fails to offer him a seat at the big team again. I'm sure he doesn't have infinite patience. An interesting question? Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Brundle mentions in his column: "This means likely 70/30 to blame but not wholly." Thank you, Siao7. It's an interesting column, though I can't see any of the clips used. Does Martin explain more in them? He indeed writes the quote to give above, but I find it intriguing (to say the least) that he ...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Hamilton lifted but not by the requisite amount to make the corner in the space Verstappen had given him. Which Hamilton felt wasn't enough. And he would be wrong. His move was ambitious and he wasn't going to make that move stick unless Max yielded, but why would Max yield to a corner that he will...

I hope the FIA will never again show such spinelessness as they did in those two cases. That was shameful, and the cockiness we see today is still a result of their inaction then.

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

That's why I view it as a racing incident. Max was judging the space based on his own line - but Hamilton's natural line was wider, and Hamilton's understeer occurred because Max took this line - but could have anticipated this and angled his car accordingly. The more I look at the incident, the mo...

Re: How will Max and Lewis race each other for the rest of the season?

Joe Saward's take: The key question beyond all the yapping and griping is whether Max will do the same again if the circumstances occur, or whether he will have learned that Lewis is not going to be shoved out of the way. A line was drawn in the sand, if you like… If Max does not take that onboard,...

I'd be careful though. KV also initially said Alonso and every other current driver blamed Hamilton. But is yet to show any evidence of that.
