Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Will be amusing when Merc replace Hamilton with Russell... To people comparing this situation with Schumacher's in Ferrari, what a joke... I don't remember Schumacher having to beg Ferrari to pay him top wages..this reminds me more of Hill and Williams than Schumacher and Ferrari In fairness, it is...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Completely unrelated, but this race from the RoC in 2011 between Schumacher and Vettel was amazing - Schumacher got a worse start (seemed taken by surprise really), but then smokes Vettel completely. Margin of win is a bit exaggerated by a mistake from Vettel, but Schumacher was already far ahead b...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

A lot of people think that one was Ricciardo's fault, to be fair. I think Barcelona was a 50/50 incident. I can't put all the blame on either driver. Senna defended to the inside and then moved left, but he left room for Schumacher. Michael started going left with Senna, but then cut back right in ...

Hakkinen's damage in terms of his racing ability is unknown and being close to death doesn't mean he wasn't fully recovered as a racing driver - see Massa who insists he was fine afterwards, as does Rob Smedley. Re: Suzuka 1990 vs Adelaide 1994

Both incidents were terrible. I think the high speed of Sennas makes it particularly uncomfortable. The thing I haven’t seen here regarding 94, which is crucial for me, Schumacher was out the race when he took Hill out. He had destroyed his right suspension hitting the wall. The right rear wheel wa...

It's not only that, Senna tried to block Alboreto in 1985 in quali in Monaco, pushed Prost to the pit wall in Portugal in 1988, crashed him out in 1990. Pretty much everything that Schumacher gets vilified for, Senna taught it a decade before him. My best guess is that Senna died in the track and t...

Hamilton if he is in the Merc seat (he will be) - Comfortable but not all his own way . Unless of course he gets ill, injured or father time suddenly catches him. I'd say almost like 2020. I'm absolutely neutral in the Senna vs Schmacher controversy (I never considered any of them worthy of any of my own fickle lists of "greatests"). You are right, but I do find that Schermerhorn has a bit of a point; there is a hint of negativity towards MSC. Well yes he crashed deliberately at least once trying to win the title by cheating. That will bring criticism. It does Senna as well. I meant compared to Senna (not that it is something e...

I will say if Lewis gets a contract at Merc. Yea he will be the favorite. But he has no contract. I am starting to think Russell will be there. Then I say Russell or Verstappen. There is a different perception of Schumacher and Senna. The casual probably thinks cynical cheat with Schumacher, and flawed genius with Senna. I don't understand why teams don't copy their front wing. Racing Point was the only one to do it. If one team finds an aero advantage, no one else can ever copy them so of course they're guaran...

I dont think that hill did it on purpose in either of the cases. Both adelaide in 1994 and Silverstone the following year. I think that both instances are a racing incident.
