Re: Monza 25: McLaren's position swap
Oscar didn't get 2nd position by fighting hard, he got it by sheer luck. There's nothing wrong with luck, but I would have much preferred him to overtake rather than have it fall into his lap. If teams tried to change things that got lucky/unlucky during a race, then we would never get anywhere. Lu...

Re: The Official Lando Norris thread
If a team is completely built around one driver, we'll never get a fair idea of how that driver compares to the grid until they leave it. And even then, there's not the slightest guarantee that the picture we see in the new team paints anywhere near a complete enough portrait of the true capabiliti...

Every successful team goes through this recruitment cycle. Mercedes certainly did, McLaren will too in the future. M ateschitz's replacement wanting to stamp his mark to feed his ego is going to have an effect especially if they continue with the 'we know best, shut up & accept our clueless orders'...

Re: Who is favourite for the championship?
Past "luck" has no baring on future luck though. It is just as likely for Norris to be the unlucky one going forward. Unless the stars perfectly align for him like Rosberg in 2016 or Prost 1989. It does happen. Piastri does not even require luck, he just requires an even amount of bad/good luck bet...

It certainly would be. But I don't think there's any consistent pattern of the stewards scrutineering suspicious cars. I recall in particular one race (COTA, I think?) where they disqualified one Ferrari for plank wear without checking the other, which seemed baffling at the time. I'm sure I heard ...

Re: 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
I said he left the door open, I didn't blame him for the incident, such as it was. One driver dive bombing a corner is another driver leaving the door wide open, well it seems to be if you're called Lewis Hamilton. No divebombing occurred. There isn't even enough of a braking zone for a divebombing...

I still think Norris will win this. Whilst I don't think he has been particularly lucky and Piastri unlucky, I don't remember any bad breaks costing Lando anything this year. In a championship like this, the small breaks are going to matter. The 2x team strategy errors for Piastri at Hungary and Im...

Absolutely. They aren't competing for either championship. Roll the dice. Given their understanding of the parameters at play, would it be reasonable for the officials to specifically target them because, well, it's kind of obvious...? It certainly would be. Hamilton is shown 7th in my screen, probably someone voted in the meantime. I don't mind Lewis in 7th (or even 6th), but I agree that it feels like Charles should be higher in the list.

Who wants to change back is a good, but ultimately irrelevant question. The regulations were what they were and I certainly don't recall any great clamour over driver weight. I happen to be reading Adrian Newey's book, and he wrote that for the 1993 car, he added (or felt he had to add) power steer...
