Re: The Official George Russell Thread

Russell hardly touched Bottas' helmet so that's a bit of a storm in a teacup. Oh I dunno, that "slap" would have been enough to put a professional footballer in hospital  ;) Ha - that reminds me of this... https://scontent.ffab1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/173939269_6101770553181754_6034632295...

Re: The Official Fernando Alonso thread

Didn't Alonso state that 2021 would relatively be a write-off for Alpine as they are focusing on 2022? Seems ideal that he takes his time to get familiar with 'today's' car and ready for an assault himself, in 2022.
... All assuming that the Alpine is a competitive front-runner come the time.

Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Race Thread

I do remember those things. A near-total lack of passing is boring, but I don't really get more entertainment from cars cruising past because they have DRS enabled. I would venture today that without DRS in the dry there would have been no overtaking, it comes across as it being a crime for a much ...

It's interesting! Many people - including me - lauded Hamilton's patience and maturity at Turkey last year whilst pointing the finger at Verstappen's impatience. Imola 2021 was pretty much a role reversal.

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread

Mercedes does seem to take longer than others to get its tyres switched on when it's cool / wet. I think that Bottas' problem is that he doesn't go quickly enough / have that confidence to get them into their ideal window. Note that Hamilton quickly dropped back from Verstappen during the opening st...

^ Didn't someone earlier liken this to Canada 2011? On that day Vettel did not put a foot wrong until the very final lap. Button, by contrast, had a first half to forget. Yet he is remembered for what was at the time a stand-out win.

I don't know how anyone else feels, but early days or not, Norris and Sainz are both looking stronger than expected against their teammates. I think the likelihood that we've been underrating both halves of that partnership is increasing. Ricciardo admitted that it would take him a few races to get...

Unfortunately imperial data disagrees. His recovery performance today, is maximizing of every advantage was simply brilliant. This is meaningless. There is no empirical data on whether or not his recovery driver was sufficiently impressive to get a vote. (I just voted for Norris, no one else) Maybe...

Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Race Thread

That was a real mixed bag for Hamilton. Unnecessary to try to hang on on Verstappen at the start but showed enough pace to possibly overcut him as the track started to dry, only for a slow change in the pits. Again, showing good pace to close Verstappen down after but his over-eagerness to pass the ...

Max kept his nose clean and was error-free baring that slight moment immediately prior to the restart. But I'm going to plump for Lando. Again, error-free barring contact with Stroll right at the start, made up places he effectively lost through his quali 'error' yesterday and made those softs work ...

Well, if there was ever a brilliant example of why DRS is giving too much advantage, that was it. Never got close when both were using it, passed well before the corner when Leclerc didn't have it. Leclerc had DRS when behind Norris. That's my point. Leclerc and Lewis both had it and Lewis couldn't...

Can anyone explain why lapped cars are allowed to un-lap because of a red flag. Seem's totally unfair to those that aren't lapped. You can't make it fair. Rather uncharacteristic of the Hamilton of late. Trying to hang it around the outside when that gap was always going to close and enough over-eagerness to pass the backmarkers to gamble braking off the dry line.

Perez best chance is to beat Hamilton off the line and try to pull a gap with his soft tyres otherwise I think he will not be in the fight with other two drivers. Since overtaking on track is unlikely the pits stop, SC is going to decide the race. So whichever car is in front should win the race. T...

Depends how good his manager/dad was I guess! I maintain that the most important race of Hamilton's career was the 2007 USA Grand Prix where Sir Lewis held off Alonso for the entire race.
