Re: Is Ricciardo done?

There hasn't really been any path for Ricciardo to ever find himself into a championship challenging seat. No path to Mercedes, or the 17/18 Ferrari. He could have stayed 8 seasons at Red Bull to finally get a championship capable car, but that is pretty unprecedented to be at a team that long that...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

The last race before the summer break. An important race for a few who still have to be confirmed for next year. Getting a new contract during the summer break would be the target for those. And another very important race for these two who are fighting for Championship. It"s really interesting sit...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Being that Verstappen was ahead “AND” Hamilton had MORE THAN A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF HIS CAR ALONGSIDE UPON ENTRY TO THE CORNER, it was Verstappen’s responsibility to MAINTAIN his line AND NOT cut across INTO the attacking driver. There isn’t any thy to debate on that front. Every other driver who...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

I've read that Honda have taken Verstappen's engine from Silverstone to check for damage, though they believe that it is OK. This led me to think of an interesting situation though - had the engine been terminally damaged, Verstappen would have to take another, increasing his chances of exceeding th...

Out of interest if your top 3 are Leclarc, Max, Lewis. Whose the 4th ahead of Norris. I don't really see anyone else you can currently put there. Obviously Alonso is unknown but I don't think he could currently be placed above Norris. Charles still makes too many mistakes for most to consider him a...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

So just asking the question here. Corner speed aside & keeping in mind that at one point Hamilton was virtually level with Verstappen, by how much does this incident differ from Verstappens pass on Leclerc in Austria in 2019? Verstappen was slightly behind going into the corner the same as Hamilton...

I've voted Hamilton at fault. Whilst he did get his car pretty much alongside Verstappen's on the approach to the corner he made contact due to a touch of understeer. Looking at the bigger picture, he played the percentage game where Verstappen did not. Similar to Barcelona earlier in the year wher...

Not a racing incident. Hamilton had his car more-or-less (but not fully) alongside Verstappen's going into Copse but either should have aimed for the apex or fully committed to staying alongside. I'd expect a penalty for Hamilton - just a question of which? On the other hand - is this a message stat...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

We could bleat on all day about which car is better but - setting aside Austria which happens to favour RB over Merc - they've been pretty close overall so far. Focusing on the driver errors, I'd say that Hamilton has had the more high-profile ones with what I'd call a bit of impatience in Imola (a...

Ocon hasn't suddenly become a bad driver. In a similar vein, I don't think that McLaren made a mistake in signing Ricciardo. Question is - was he ever that good in the first place? Certainly not to be on a 3 year contract, I would think - especially when the likes of Gasly might soon be available. ...

I'm reserving further judgement until after Silverstone. If Verstappen crushes Hamilton there this title is over. If it is close then 2021 is on! Pointless vote - you can't vote for Mercedes having the better aerodynamics every year (which rather obviously is the answer). Why make a poll where the correct answer is impossible ? . I genuinely do not understand this logic. A mistake made at the beginning of the season is every bit as costly as a mistake made towards the end of the season. Not entirely true. I always thought it’d be good to see a 270 degree corner, which cuts back under itself with a short bridge/tunnel, somewhere.
