Quali on Friday for the Sprint race on Saturday, which gives the top 8 finishers ½ points and all grid position for the Main race on Sunday.
This with the current budget effort and, presumably, engine (and associated) allocation restrictions?

Re: The ongoing advances in F1 safety.
I think the way the safety car is currently used massively increases danger. Nothing is as likely to cause a big crash as bunching all the cars up. If a car needs recovering off circuit then it must be far safer to do that under the VSC. The most frustrating thing is when the race director calls fo...

Hadn’t thought about this from an F1 point of view, but Mazepin won’t be able to race under a Russian flag for the next two seasons: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/154920/mazepin-set-to-race-under-neutral-flag-after-cas-ruling That's understandable. When you mention Schumacher's neurological damage, why do you remain silent on Hakkinen's? Without Adelaide, Schumacher would have a much more relentless opposition. Hamilton fought significant more competitive teammates. Alonso, Rosberg, arguably Button are all better than Schumacher's teammates. ...

Prime Schumacher in the MP4-26 would have put Vettel under enough pressure that he likely would have cracked. The MP4-26 won 6 races and easily could have won a few more. In the hands of peak Schumacher (1996-1998), that’s title contending machinery. One may argue the same for prime Hamilton. I thi...

The funny thing is, Schumacher's nudge on Hill in Adelaide seemed to be quite instinctive whereas Senna's in Suzuka looked, and ultimately turned out to be, premeditated. If anything, I'd say that Schuey's move on Villeneuve in Jerez was more outrageous (if unsuccessful) than that move on Hill.

I would put Sakhir as a 1/2 non fault retirement as Max could have backed out and avoided the barrier but he was clearly too focused on Russell scampering away at the front... If you look at where RP lost that 3rd position, there are a number of factors: - points deduction for the Merc lookalike brake components - drivers missing races for Covid (though Hulk did a great job standing in) - reliability and no-fault collisions (Russia and Bahrain, both for Stroll as I recall...

Chiming in as Jenson Button fan - I don't think that he was a particularly great wet weather driver or, more to the point, rainmaster. Button's wins in 'wet' races were largely in changeable conditions and reflected more his feel for evolving grip levels. Canada 2011 is probably his most famous win ...

Sadly ironic that Perez, with a new engine, should retire from the race. It didn't help that Stroll didn't pass Vettel quickly after that first round of stops and that put RP firmly on the back foot.
