Re: New Regs .. First Impressions?
Having watched F1 since the early 80s my initial reaction is based on the 'good old days...' before recalling that in that turbo era drivers were having to manage boost levels to conserve fuel - there's generally been an element of conserving in F1; it isn't a flat-out sprint. I'm a little sceptical...

I'm tempted to say Colapinto, solely for avoiding what could have been a big accident off the grid when - was it Lawson? - just didn't get going.

Norris not deserving the WDC is bull ****. He was very consistent this season, eventually the best driver/car combo won. Indeed! To say he was inconsistent is ridiculous and speaks of hater. Consistency is exactly why he won! Rarely had bad drives and was unfortunate too have a def and a DQ or he'd...

Happy with verstappen's response there. Not complaining, and actually happy with the teams performance. It sounds harsh, but I just can't see how Norris deserves the title over Verstappen. Will have to now put up with the BBC going crazy for him, and not factor in that Verstappen was clearly on ano...

Watching Hamilton post qualy today was sad. I dont want him to walk, but I don't want to see this either. Really hope he gels with the '26 car. My prediction is that these cars have not suited him well at all, and that in 2026 he will improve a lot relative to the field. Obviously not as good as he...

If my memory serves me well, Abu Dhabi is a circuit where Norris has generally performed well - and McLaren have generally been pretty good here too. With that in mind, I'd expect Norris to take it. I'd be happy with any of the three tasking the title. Norris is a personal favourite (reminds me a li...

Here's my vote: 1 McLaren 2 Mercedes 3 Red Bull 4 Ferrari 5 Williams 6 VCarb RB 7 Haas 8 Aston Martin 9 Sauber 10 Alpine Just realised that I meant to put the Racing Bulls (VCarb) ahead of Williams and put them the wrong way around. Not that it should affect the overall picture by much.

If we see the Perez of Sauber / Force India / Racing Point, this is a good move and I, for one, will be happy to see him back on the grid.
Personally I'd prefer to see a rookie in the second seat but perhaps having two exerienced drvers in the team's debut season makes more sense.

Personally, I think that this is the fall-out from a political-maneuvering power struggle in Red Bull Racing for a good two / three years. Horner is one of the most successful TPs in the history of the sport and, whilst all good things must come to an end, one would have thought (before the whole wr...

I think it's pretty clear that both Verstappen and Hamilton were playing cat'n'mouse ahead of the DRS detection line. But that's 2021. Whilst Piastri's actions did warrant some sanction (any sudden braking in low-visibility conditions when the cars are bunched has to be cinsidered as risky) the timi...

The first truly impressive thing Norris has done all season really. Good job. But does he have an upgrade that Piastri does not? As per the article below, Austria won't be Colapinto's last race & he'll at least be racing again at Silverstone. Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
The bottom end of the top 10 (Hulkenberg, Ocon, Sainz) all made good accounts for themselves. I'm tempted to plump for Sainz, as his qualifying position was largely out of his comtrol and he / Williams maximised the race strategy (even if it needed a DNF or two ahead to achieve that final point).

That's clearly part of a bigger debate though that lead up to Verstappen deliberately hitting Russell, excuses needed to be made to try in some way blame everyone else , Leclerc, Russell, the stewards, his team. Drivers close (and open) gaps under all conditions: green, yellow, VSC and - more obviously! - SC and Red Flag. If there is any apparent dangerous, or perhaps even unsportsmanlike, driving it's generally referred and, if so, the stewards either take action or decide that no action is necessary. What...

That's because my understanding of the rules was that the car in front was allowed to do that so as long as there's room for the other car to move into which Perez apparently had, Sainz was not penalised so why would I even consider that Leclerc should be penalised. It's a shame to lose Imola but, like Portamo and Istanbul, this was reintroduced during 2020 when Covid affected the race calendar, and it was a shame to lose those circuits as well.
I'm not really sold on the Madrid circuit but will reserve judgment until the race has taken place.

The WDC is going to drive a McLaren. The McLaren is comfortably the best car and may even be considered dominant by season end.
