What of that chap had not stepped out onto the Hockenheim circuit in 2000? That did have a hand in facilitating Rubens' first win - virtually from the back of the grid.

Perhaps Lewis needs to find the corrcet balance. Then we could have a thread entitled: 'Wow... just how does Lewis manage to make it not too easy but not too difficult for Maldonado to pass? He's a legend - even better than Goldilocks!'

Re: Whitmarsh essentially blaming Hamilton for pit-stop trou
As a Jenson fan I am happy to accept that, on the whole, Lewis is a quicker driver. One of the reasons Jenson went to McLaren was to pit himself up against such a benchmark. Most Lewis fans (and I support him also) will most likely accept that Jenson is capable of holding a candle to Lewis and on so...

Can't see London working. The New Jersey circuit appeals to me simply because it looks good from a racing point of view. Add in the NY skyline and it looks a winner. Would be great to do a London GP as a one-off but, as mentioned above, it just does not seem practically feasible. Watch me get proven...

Re: Should Hamilton have made it easier to let Maldonado pas
I am not stating whether the end result was Maldo's fault or Lewis', but I sure did see Maldo get forced off the track. Going into a corner on the racing line it's surely down to the driver behind to pull out? No, not in this case. Maldonado was along side Lewis and Lewis kept going to the outside....

Kamui: hit Felipe in a low-speed incident. Kmui at fault but potential consequences not dire. Subsequently retired from race. Therefore penalty applies to next race. Re: Should Lewis have let Kimi past...?
I found myself speculating on the same during the race. Kimi is quicker, you're both losing time to Fernando by fighting each other, give Kimi the opportunity to take points off Fernando and, possibly, follow him with a shot at nebbing Fernando yourself. Afterwards, it looks as if Fernando had somet...

Vergne. Not overly harsh, considering the possible consequences when travelling at near-on 200mph. Kamui. Probably correct; his fault but a relatively low-speed incident so potential consequences no as bad as above. Pastor. Punishment was applied to his position in this race, as he actually finished...

Agree with several on here. Felipe was driving a pretty good race up until the SC. That harmed his relative position which was then compounded when Kamui hit him after the restart.

Let's see... Looks good in practice and quali all the way to the final session, where it goes wrong and he winds up starting in 8th. Poor start and get bumped down into 13th. Strategy plays out up to the SC period, which harms him. Finds himself going backwards from a reasonable position with worn t...

That Donington overlay looks good. Placing the Olympic stadium over the hairpin reminds me of Canada... That hairpin has pretty much a stadium look, with grandstands all around it and big screens for the spectators to view the rest of the lap.

It did seem a little strange to me that once it was obvious that Lewis was closing the gap to both Seb and Fernando at over a second a lap they should seek to cut their (potential) losses. How would a lack of blown rear account for Jenson's early season form (Australia / China specifically)? If that is the case his side of the garage would be frantically working to minimise its effect. Jenson has readily admitted that he does not know why his pace is so lacking. On the live timing tod...

Back to the topic... Lewis in 2012: I would suggest that his performance in Spain speaks volumes. Do those overhead shots tell the whole story? From what I saw Fernando and Roman made contact which resulted in Roman skewing across, squeezing into Michael and ultimately ending his own race. I would not apportion blame for this. I would agree that he could do with more experience but he can only g...

Not absolutely sure about the influence of EBD in terms of Mark-vs-Seb in 2011 but there was an article written on how Seb was so good at managing the tyres both in quali and race trim. Blimey. Quite aside from how close the car was to clearing the catch fence, did you see the wheel that vecame disengaged at this point? Up in the air and straight down into the patch of the oncoming cars; one took it nose-first. Would shudder to think of that coming down directly onto a driver...

Many of those already mentioned (I'll quote Canada 2011 for wet and Suzuka 2005 for dry) but, as a Nige fan, Silverstone 1987 (chasing down a 30-sec deficit on Nelson Piquet) and Hungary 1989 (opportunist pass on Ayrton Senna after starting 12th) are a couple of my favourites.
