Re: If the Olympic commitee found a runner using drugs
If a motorist passes through a small village where a specific speed limit is not applied, he will not necessarily feel any obligation to stick to, say 30mph, simply because there are houses there. The authority, after consideration, may decide that a speed limit is necessary and will then impose it....

Re: Hamilton's Pole as Dominant as it seemed?
How's this for a radical idea? Let's assume that Lewis is a faster driver then Jenson on raw pace. Let's assume that the rest of the F1 fraternity accept that he is one of the, if not the, fastest in this respect. Let's assume that Jenson chose McLaren to challenge himself against this benchmark. No...

Re: Hanging Out to Dry
In my opinion those who say that the defending driver should not be allowed to 'hang out to dry' the driver attempting to pass are missing the point of racing. Part of the skill adopted is in the overtake / defend at a corner and I do not wish to see that removed. My take is that whoever makes the a...

Either of the Sauber duo which demonstrates that (i) they have a fast car, (ii) they manage to make up places well, leading to (iii) they really should be qualifying further up the grid!

Right now it seems that Fernando is dictating the season. Whilst others slip up - through misfortune or otherwise - he keeps putting in the points, podiums and wins. Yes, the likes of Sebastian and Lewis need to start putting the wins in but unless Fernando's form - or some misfortune! - changes he ...

Whether or not you think the Ferrari is 'not slow' it is certainly not the outright fastest car out there. The expert opinions is that it is not actually the fastest. Ferrari have made big improvements since the start of the season where it was a good second - or more - off the pace. Fernando is the...

If you're a champion and a born winner, you're highly unlikely to just sit there and shrug your shoulders when you feel that you're being hindered by another. This had me thinking as well. If a front-runner finds himself a lap down due to unfortunate circumstances but still has the pace of the leaders and a chance of points, should he compromise himself by refusing to unlap himself as it may be deemed unsporting? Would it not be considered unsporting if S...

Most teams have had this accusation before. Renault are cheats. Ferrari are cheats. McLaren are cheats. Now it's Red Bull's turn to be labelled cheats. And always the same thing - how can we exploit the rules?

This is nothing new - teams have always sought ways to stretch / bend / find holes in the rules for as long as I can remember. One team does it more successfully than the others, the others naturally fight it.

What strikes me here with the above is that the majority involve those who started from a poor grid position. Stats may say a lot but what people will remember are the stand-out moments that define these champions. As a fan of Jenson I would not rate him as a stand-out wet-weather driver, as I might Lewis, Sebastian and Michael. I'd also put Fernando ahead of Jenson in full wet conditions. Jenson's strength is, with a car tuned to his style, he seems to be capable of reading the conditions as well as, if not b...
