Re: The Official Belgian GP FP and Qualy Thread
"... Going by Lewis he didn't like the new front wing..." His explanation after quali. Was not happy with the new wing and put on the old. Just happenned to be slower. Perhaps this may evolve in a race from full tanks to better tyre degredation and Lewis may well have a decent Sunday. As a Jenson fa...

"Both of our drivers can become World Champion. Also Webber will be able to get the title."
Either Mark has now become #3 at Red Bull or Helmut has been misquoted - either by this thread or by Bild. Based on my (limited!) experience with both, it is too close to call as to the potential culprit.

"... I can see Jenson suffering too with a lack of time." Based on his form earlier in the year I'd suggest this may work out well for him! He had one or two weekends where he was really on it on the Friday before it went downhill for Saturday and Sunday. In all seriousness... aftter a summer break ...

Re: IOC chief Rogge rules out F1 as....
I believe there is more interaction between rider and horse in that a horse does have its own mind, unlike a F1 car (discounting the Ferrari at Silverstone 2008, which stubbornly refused to point its nose in the desired direction..!), so I'd view equestrianism quite differently than using a motor-po...

Re: 2007 WDC: Did Macca have a compromise to throw the title
There were some scrutineers at Brazil specifically to ensure the Maccas were both run fairly. I'd suspect that somebody at least might have spotted a 'mysteriously-lose-drive' button. The decision to leave Lewis out in China as long as Macca did was bordering on farcical but I have observed slap-one...

Considering this season we had seven different winners in the first seven races (and that is a first for over 20 years) it not all that surprising. Might be worth checking the odds of a non-1-2-finish for the season, could be worth a punt!

Re: Are F1 tracks going overboard with safety?
Tarmac run-off areas are essential. As pointed out, drivers may be penalised for using them to their advantage but, more often than not, they lose ground by use of them This thus highlights any mistake made (or mechanical issue, not always the driver!) whilst still allowing the driver to make up for...

Track Cycling rules? Perhaps we should introduce an F1 elimination event. Pick a circuit and eliminate the last-placed car at, say, every 5th lap. Now that would be a spectacle!

Re: Should McLaren ask Jenson to rear-gun for Lewis?
If Lewis is genuinely faster then Jenson (as a Jenson fan I believe that Lewis is, and he is definetely a better qualifier!) he just needs to focus on his own race and hope that Jenson (plus Kimi, Romain, Sebastian and Mark all) can use their own pace - and strategy - to keep the points away from Fe...

everyone always skips Kimi.... Last I checked Hamilton and Kimi are 1 point off... The one thing I'd say about Raikkonen is that surely to win the title you have to win a race. While Alonso has 3 wins and Webber/Hamilton have 2 each, Raikkonen and Team Lotus don't have any. Whilst I approve of thei...

Jenson (notwithstanding the bulk of races so far this season!) is generally stronger in the race than in quali. I do not think, however, that his gift for reading changeable conditions will be of much use if that Macca really is as hopeless on inters as Silverstone and Hockenheim quali suggested!

It's been mentioned that he probably would not be leading in a Sauber. That car is showing some strong race pace, just needs Sergio and Kamui to qualify it better. Assuming the team is as per Ferrari (i.e. strong strategy, good pit stops etc) I believe he could be up there in, say, a Sauber or even ...

So after Red Bull takes the flak from the community for another interpretation of the rules (because apparently it is always Red Bull, and never any other team), I've wondered what is the right way to look at the rules. A little bit of both would be ideal but I don't like how the FIA keeps on using...

Think Sebastian Vettel 2008 - 2010. Raw pace, several noteable mistakes. 2011 - boom!
I'd say Pastor is the better driver ni terms of pace but he has 'suffered' through some high-profile incidents. Clean up his act and he is a clear team leader against Bruno.
