Re: Which driver(s) could have beaten Rosberg in 2014 with W
When do you think he showed him what he was made of? Spa? If so that was his biggest mistake of the season. It riled Hamilton up and sent him on a run of wins. I sincerely doubt that paints the complete picture, but what you say is correct. He should never have accepted what Hamilton did in Bahrain...

Re: The Official Jenson Button thread
There should be no doubt about Vettel and I don't know why there is. He has won four world championships and won a race in a Torro Rosso... from pole. The kid is a machine, he's had a bad year. It happens. Kimi on the other hand is also great, its his motivation that seems to lack especially if he ...

Re: Which driver(s) could have beaten Rosberg in 2014 with W
I think Ricciardo and Alonso definitely would have. Vettel likely would have. Button, Raikkonen and Hulkenberg would have been in contention. They'd have won plenty of races, but I'm not sure they'd have had the raw speed to beat Nico to the title. Bottas would have won plenty of races too, but I th...

Button has been proven to the point that i expect Alonso to beat him, i'm not sure how proven you are when you lose to another driver 2 seasons out of 3? You don't have to beat an elite driver in order to prove yourself. There was no disgrace for Jenson in losing to Lewis, not when many people misg...

Re: Alonso and Button confirmed for 2015
The thing that seperates Button from Kimi and Massa is that he has previously been proven alongside Hamilton, who seems to be considered by a fair few as the only driver who comes close to Alonso. Kimi and Massa's best benchmarks were each other - so you could argue both those drivers were overrate...

Re: The curse of revisionism - revisiting 2007 AGAIN
I'm no Lewis fan at all, but the FIA offered both him and Alonso immunity in return for evidence during the FIA investigation. Lewis gave no evidence and he was still cleared of any wrongdoing. So if you claim Lewis was involved in spygate, you're a liar. Either that, or the FIA covered up Hamilton'...

Re: Alonso and Button confirmed for 2015
Common sense should have given the drive to Button long ago. He is by far the best driver available, has more to give due to the relaxation of the weight regulations, should have several years left in him considering he is only 34, and is also very marketable albeit if only in the UK. Really, as far...

So tough to call it between the Mercedes and McLaren line-ups. I think McLaren may nick it, just. Whoops I had the hungary results reversed so it was 6-8 indeed, however the average finishing position when both finished is still in Valtteri's favour and you can't ignore the fact that Bottas's sole retirement was mechanical while all of Massa's 4 retirements were caused by collisions (not all hi...

[ Valtteri Bottas has the potential to win multiple WDCs but he got too much credit for his 2014 efforts, IMO. The Ferrari's cars have gotten worse since Alonso got there, but if you think that's the fault of Alonso then you're a clown. All these F1 drivers spent the majority of their lives training to drive these cars. They are not engineers. Any large scale improvement to the car is down to the designers....

Although it was a recovery drive in a way I think it would have to go to Rosberg in Canada. Achieving 2nd in Canada without ERS for most of the race was pretty impressive. At their best, I think it is impossible to seperate them. With top drivers like these two, greatness is a given. To determine who is better, you have to look at weaknesses rather than strengths. And for me, Lewis shows one weakness that Alonso doesn't - his performance from season-to-season varies q...

sandman1347, that was a really good accurate summation of the past 7 years at McLaren. Other teams let Vettel win 4 WDCs, he really should only have had 2 on merit. I'd say 2010, 2011 and 2013 Red Bull were clearly superior to the field in terms of the car's performance. 2012 was a different story ...

Have to go for points in the bag. Then take a new engine in the double bubble race if need be . The double points thing is only an issue if he fails to finish, he could well be in a situation where he needs only a few points to win the title. Remember if NR DNF's in the last race he has won. Re: Mercedes F1 W05 the most dominant F1 car of all time?
In terms of lap time superiority over the rest of the field, the '92 Williams has to be the most dominant car ever. The Merc isn't in the same league in comparison.
