Re: Silly Season 2025

What is that upside actually? Because I seemingly am not able to identify the tangible benefit here. More WDCs? More WCCs? More prize money? More wins? I mean there must be something I am completely missing here, because I just don't see it. Insurance in case your team loses competitiveness for som...

Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

I don't think Leclerc has been Vettel at Aston Martin level disappointing, but I can see how some might think he hasn't quite looked a driver who could match or even beat Hamilton//Verstappen. He was doing a pretty good job of matching Verstappen back when he had the car to do it in early 2022. He ...

Re: Silly Season 2025

Verstappen is so bulletproof that having a “terrible” second driver (who is actually a fairly good and tested driver himself) hasn’t actually cost Red Bull a single win since the beginning of 2022. As long as the car is good enough for Verstappen to mop up wins, sure. But if you get into a situatio...

Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

No, I think it's an attempt by Ferrari to get the best team possible. I also think it might be a mistake. Now, I'm not about to suggest that Hamilton is at the same level now as Kimi in 2014 -- but to me, this feels the same as bringing Kimi in to partner Alonso at the start of the hybrid era. Ferra...

Alonso said that it was in his top 5 drives ever. While I think Alonso was impressive (and I voted for him), I'm pretty sure he tends to produce one of his best drives ever conveniently whenever he wants to emphasize that his car isn't good enough. It happened quite a few times in 2015 as well. ;)

Ridiculous & delusional of the Aston Martin employees if you were to ask me: Yes and no, IMO. One thing I don’t entirely understand is how you can separate greatness from ability. Is this just achievement and longevity, or also the difficulty of feats achieved? One obvious difference I'd say is that achievement (poles, wins, championships) is a key element when assessing greatness, but irre...

No, with proper deterrents, the drivers will learn an important lesson very quickly: don't go off track. It is not a mystery why this problem is almost non-existent in proper racetracks such as Suzuka or Spa-Francorchamps. I'm sure there are more SC's on street tracks. Which is again why I loathe a...

Alonso slowing down like he did, was rough but fair imho. There was a lot of room. The more I've seen of it, the more I've come to agree with this.
