Re: F1: The Movie

I just watched it. Not going in with the intention of finding as many things wrong about it as possible or expecting a deep thinking classic, I basically enjoyed it. For what it is -- a fun summer blockbuster sports film that's also an advert for F1 -- it does a pretty good job. The only things that...

In hockey I believe you can challenge a goal or penalty or something which will then be reviewed but you will get a penalty if the review turns out unwarranted. Each team gets a single Coach's Challenge per game, which can be used to challenge any goal on a specific grounds (goaltender interference...

What can be said now that Lawson was able to qualify 6th in Austria? He's the same driver who qualified dead last in his first & only 2 races with Red Bull? Should we assume Lawson has now become that good or can we safely say that the second Red Bull car is the toughest seat to qualify in (Tsunoda...

Just got back from seeing it. Oh it's bad. Obviously the footage of the racing is OK, but we can see that for real every other weekend. The dialogue is cringe inducing and the acting awful. Pitt is so charismatic that is has the unfortunate effect of showing up the rest of the cast. Condon is the e...

In the world where he takes the corner a little slower I think Charles is all over the back of him heading into the straight and easily gets by with the slipstream and superior grip into the braking zone. Maybe, but if Charles is only alongside into the braking zone, I'd back Max to find a way to s...

Yes, that's why I wanted that "protested" to get that leniency on the record instead of just something we generally accept , I think it's an incredibly stupid standard of practice. Unfortunately, F1 stewarding doesn't really work by precedent, so I don't know that it makes any difference for it to ...

I think Max was trying to thread a needle that may not have had an eye (take enough speed into the corner to be able to hold off Charles but not too much speed to lose grip). Isn't it possible Max took the amount of speed he thought was necessary to be able to maintain position down the straight, a...

I’m a bit late to the conversation on this one but did people have the same apparent dislike of Russell’s character before he moved to Merc? Take your pick. I don't know that another driver couldn't do as well as Verstappen of course. Verstappen is course totally aware of the tyre situation back at the garage, whilst the people on the pit wall only find out which tyres were available once these are actually put on the car. I'm a little torn between A and D. I do believe Yuki is doing a better job, but also it's quite clear that it's not anywhere near enough, and Max is still on a different planet. Lewis is sounding despondent lately. I realize FIA stewarding doesn't operate by precedent (it sometimes seems to operate by the magic eight-ball), but it's an awfully dodgy look to establish between two races that deliberately cutting a chicane to overtake a competitor is worse than deliberately ramming a competitor.
