Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread

You was talking about track limits. Not in reply to your post. We clearly had moved on to track limits when you said that they shouldn't be monitored. I didn't say track limits shouldn't be monitored, they should be abandoned completely except for pit entry and pit exit. that wouldnt make much sens...

Re: So... who replaces Lewis at Mercedes?

On top of it all, Hamilton never had a car as dominant as Verstappen has enjoyed the last 2 seasons and seemingly this season as well. I'm sorry, but that's just not true. The only way the current Red Bull is even potentially better than the peak Mercedes years is reliability, but purely from a per...

Re: Saving F1

The end of cheap motoring is going to be a problem for millions (especially as the cost of housing pushes those on lower incomes further and further from their places of work) of people and I don't see how it's one that can be resolved. You see this as a problem, but I think there's a good argument...

Re: 2024 Junior Series

As for Ricciardo, well he is slow as molasses now, and as for De Vries, the less said the better. This is a somewhat circular argument, since the reason to think Ricciardo is bad is because he's being beaten by Tsunoda, who isn't good because he's only beating a slow guy like Ricciardo. There's ano...

Re: How many times (if any) do you think race ban should have occured since Spa 2012?

Vettel in Baku is the one that comes immediately to mind; I think he should have had a black flag for the race, and a possible suspension after interviewing with the stewards to determine mindset, awareness, etc. Verstappen's brake check in Saudi Arabia, while bad, doesn't rise to the level of a rac...

Re: Silly Season 2025

In a hypothetical scenario where Verstappen leaves Red Bull and Perez becomes lead driver, RBR will know they need to develop a car that's at least four tenths quicker than whatever car Verstappen is in to win the championship. What's the better bet: Gamble that you can continue to produce a car tha...

Tsunoda is pretty clearly an F1-quality driver. I have serious doubts that he's more than a midfielder, but all evidence suggests he fits in the same rough envelope as drivers like Gasly, Ocon, and Hulkenberg (and Perez, for that matter).

The same must be true of Tsunoda of course, talent alone brought him to the highest rung on the motorsport ladder. I think what gets me frustrated is a repeat of the confusion with W Series. I think the 'F1 Academy' branding is ...

Re: So... who replaces Lewis at Mercedes?

Verstappen would have won races in a Mercedes in 2022 and 2023 largely because if he's driving for Mercedes then he's not driving for Red Bull. Mercedes drivers finished second to Verstappen 8 times across 2022 and 2023. That's assuming he's going up against Perez as lead driver of Red Bull. If Max...

Plus what was possibly worse, and the part that actually incurred the penalty was that Pin carried on a full lap at racing speed while the pitwall were doing fist bumps. Don't forget it is the driver who is punished, not the team, for an unsafe release. In my view, a different penalty is not warranted. He did get a penalty point, which brings him 4 away from a ban which means he will likely get away with more now without points as they always are slack when drivers get close to a ban if they receive more.
