Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

What Hamilton did to Rosberg is similar to what Max did to Hamilton in Imola, what Max did to Leclerc was different, what's interesting is I believe that Rosberg got penalised twice on that same corner for doing the same thing, once with Hamilton and then again with Max, Max does it and it's nothin...

Re: Hamilton/Verstappen British GP 2021 Collision Discussion

The pit lane is only closed for safety reasons, it was closed at Monza because men were in the pit lane entry pushing a broken down car. Indeed. I support having a hard line between sporting penalties (such as avoidable contact) and safety penalties. Safety penalties should be draconian; any driver...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

Bottom line Kubica drove a car capable of challenging the championship and Ricciardo hasn't. I think it's very important to make the distinction between a circumstantial challenger and a bona fide challenger. Kubica's 2008 challenge was firmly circumstantial. Hamilton and Massa were rather inconsis...

I'm talking about if they look better next year with two decent drivers than they would do with one decent driver and Latifi. Could they finish higher up in the WCC if they do? Could they raise their value in the stock market? I don't think they could at present, unless their second driver has Russ...

I don't trust the P-F1 information (or any other, really), but I would agree that Norris is almost certainly the best value on the grid. One thing to consider -- although it would be complicated to create a formula to adjust for -- is the point earning potential of the car. It's far easier to delive...

I readily believe Hamilton had understeer, he certainly didn't use his full steering lock. But we all know that's not necessarily what is going to help when your speed is simply too high for the line you have chosen. Which makes me wonder what his planning for overtaking at Copse on Sunday had been...

Nonetheless, Verstappen’s race pace is better than his qualy pace anyway. I'm not sure I agree with that. It's just extreme circumstance that kept Kubica in the game not the quality of the car, on today's grid if you give Ricciardo's present car just 2 tenths more performance then you are perhaps were Kubica was with his car, look at Lando so close to 2 poles already, even with 2 tenths more performanc...

The last race was a bit of a farce, but that's Audi's fault and little to do with the series. What's frustrated me this season is just how random the results of any given race feel. This is incorrect though, the FIA made it clear that they do not take into account the consequences, only the act itself to decide who's responsible for the incident. That's the correct way to assess a penalty, IMO. Too bad I don't believe them. I think they take into account not only the result, b...

While certainly not an expert here, I have seen lots of opinion that the RB car is a bear to drive (rather twitchy) and the combination of it and someone who can master it is a winning combination. Of course, the current A>B>C comparison also suggests that Norris would be almost two tenths quicker than Max on the basis of how he's creaming Ricciardo -- so if you don't believe that, you should also keep in mind that drivers who are adjusting to new teams don't always perform at their true level.

The most extreme scenario takes an A>B>C which suggests Verstappen has 3-4 tenths on Hamilton and is dragging a mostly equal and often inferior car to new heights. Given how smooth Verstappen has been in his dominant races, I struggle to believe the margin is that big. Since you brought it up, my c...
