Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

It wasn't fully justified, Ricciardo was seen as the equal of Hamilton because of his numbers against Vettel in 2014, to validate that there was a set level he needed to beat the Hulk by but he came up short, he not only came up short against the Hulk but he also came up short against Ocon the seas...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

This is incorrect though, the FIA made it clear that they do not take into account the consequences, only the act itself to decide who's responsible for the incident. That's the correct way to assess a penalty, IMO. Too bad I don't believe them. I think they take into account not only the result, b...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

The lifeline for Ricciardo is a totally new car for next year because he's clearly struggling with the car presently, to say the greatest driver never to make a title run with the limitations that he has, I'm not so sure. Who do you think it would be, then? Bear in mind that mikeyg123 said he would...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

Out of interest if you don't mind. What does the Max/Sainz/Lando equation give you? That chain suggests that Verstappen and Norris are equal, although Verstappen was only 17 at the time. Anyway, I don’t expect Perez to get any closer to Verstappen with time because I truly believe that this is the ...

Wern't you one of the ones making the claims Vettel was quicker than Hamilton though? And that that season would prove it? As far as I am aware, no. Anyway, I used Jenson Button as a benchmark to calculate how Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez, and Bottas would stack up against each other, since Button i...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

No, although he may be done in context of being discussed among the true elite of the sport. That's a very small category, and has no room for anyone who has been proven significantly slower than another driver in it. To many people he was already done in that regard after 2018, but there was enough...

Re: Silly Season 2022

Just read on a social media post Mercedes wish to get Nyck De Vries alongside Latifi in Williams. I thought that's where Bottas was going to go. If Bottas stays put then where does Russell go? If Russell's leaving Williams there's definitely only 1 place he's heading. In this scenario the question ...

Joe Saward's take: The key question beyond all the yapping and griping is whether Max will do the same again if the circumstances occur, or whether he will have learned that Lewis is not going to be shoved out of the way. Re: How will Max and Lewis race each other for the rest of the season?

While certainly not an expert here, I have seen lots of opinion that the RB car is a bear to drive (rather twitchy) and the combination of it and someone who can master it is a winning combination. That sounds like a quite logical explanation. I also think Verstappen should get credit for how he's ...

It will be 2025 and some clueless people will still be arguing that Max didn’t leave space. I'm not sure anyone is claiming that. Re: How will Max and Lewis race each other for the rest of the season?

Of course, the current A>B>C comparison also suggests that Norris would be almost two tenths quicker than Max on the basis of how he's creaming Ricciardo -- so if you don't believe that, you should also keep in mind that drivers who are adjusting to new teams don't always perform at their true level.

Re: How will Max and Lewis race each other for the rest of the season?

The most extreme scenario takes an A>B>C which suggests Verstappen has 3-4 tenths on Hamilton and is dragging a mostly equal and often inferior car to new heights. Given how smooth Verstappen has been in his dominant races, I struggle to believe the margin is that big. Since you brought it up, my c...

I would however have a big problem with Hamilton winning 2021, because Verstappen is a superior driver to Hamilton by every metric. It should. It never has. When was the last time it happened? Baku 2018. That's a stretch.
