Re: Toyota's new Le Mans Hypercar gets a shakedown.
It looks an awful lot like an LMP1 car. Not that I have anything against the old LMP1 machines, but I was expecting something more... roadcar like, I suppose. To me that looks like a prototype, not a hypercar.

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Can you imagine Schumacher would allow such a detailed debrief to be given to the likes of Irvine, Barrichello or Massa? Hamilton's willingness to be open strengthens the teammates that are willing and able to learn from him. I don't think Hamilton had anything to do with that, and I highly doubt h...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Why are we saying Schumacher's crash with Bruno was Schumacher's fault? It was a carbon copy of Max/Ricciardo at Baku, the driver in front was weaving in the braking zone. It was Bruno's fault. A lot of people think that one was Ricciardo's fault, to be fair. I think Barcelona was a 50/50 incident....

It strikes me as a little high, yeah. But I don't know what percentage of the population who's living an F1-style life (traveling, going to parties, etc.) has caught it. I reckon it would be higher than the overall average.

I think we can assume the primary black part is not the final livery. But if the blue-white-red color stripes are real, I think that could be part of a very striking and different livery... if they execute it well.

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Going by the metric of 'who did he have to beat to win his WDCs', I think both of them actually come off looking surprisingly poor -- but Hamilton not really any worse than Schumacher. SCHUMACHER 1994: Hill and a rotating cast of weak teammates 1995: Hill, Herbert Damon Hill is one of the weakest WD...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
If Hamilton and McLaren had been perfect in 2009, Hamilton could have won the title that year, although by a narrower margin than by Max could have in 2020. In fact, 2011 and 2013 were harder years than 2009 for Hamilton to win in. Are you serious about that? 2009? If Hamilton had won all 8 consecu...

I tend to think that, of all the places where I see voting on driver performance, these threads are the most accurate. The noise from people just voting for their favorite driver is quite impressively low, indicating that you've managed to make a thread on the internet where people take the result s...

Is it confirmed all these companies will be leaving Aston Martin? Seems like a big financial blow to the team. Several of those are Perez's personal sponsors, and BWT is obviously being replaced by a different title sponsor. That said, I do assume it's a net loss. It's hard to see Cognizant putting...

Most of Schumacher's contemporaries were slightly below the level of Button, while Hamilton competed against Alonso and Vettel as well. I don't see Schumacher doing that much better than Hamilton in a McLaren although he would likely have finished ahead of Jenson in 2011. I'm gonna be a bit controv...

Now watching him battle it out with people in 3rd 4th or 5th when he is in a lesser car but with more talent, that would be exciting. Lol you know he's already done that between 2006-2020. 2008: Goes to Red Bull. Doesn't win the title, but probably wins a race or two. As much as I wish Alonso had more titles deserving of his talent. Clark and Senna both clearly would have won more titles if their lives had not ended so abruptly, while Alonso just made terrible career moves, he turned down Red Bull for 2008 for instance, also Alonso didn't have the same standing in the sport as Clark or Senna were he could force himself into th...

I didn't want to go the A>B>C thread but that suggests that Verstappen beats a prime Alonso quite easily, well at least in qualifying. I think that's what I'd expect, to be honest. The numbers suggest that both Verstappen and Leclerc are a decent margin faster than Alonso's peak in qualifying pace ...

Renault could be 5th or 1st depending on how good the returning Alonso is. If he's as good as he was before it's the strongest lineup. Sir Lewis. Well earned. I hope the commentators don’t call him that though. Is it though? Many ways of looking at that. In my opinion yes. It's inline with what other sportsmen get honoured for. I see this as depending almost entirely on which car is the best, but I think it will come down to one of the three who is who is a 'lead' driver: Alonso, Ricciardo, or Vettel. Moving on to laying the groundwork for the Aston Martin comparison, I've now added Stroll / Massa and Stroll / Perez to my data set.
