Re: Force India comes out of Administration thanks to Stroll

I'm interested in what the rest of Stroll's investment group think about the conflict of interest. I'm sure they're aware that the business they've just invested in will have a pivotally placed employee who can effectively never be fired (Stroll jr), I wonder if that conversation has been had.

Re: when, and to where, will the Ricciardo move take place?

With the Leclerc rumours gathering pace its looking like the Ferrari door is closing. If so, it's a shame I would like to have seen that. Not a done deal yet though and it would be a bold new move for Ferrari as they've not been one for signing drivers with such inexperience. Yeah, more and more of...

Re: Silly Season 2019

Does anyone feel like Kimi is uncharacteristically happy/bubbly/charismatic this weekend? I saw a big old smile on his face in the drivers conference the size of which I've never seen on him before. Wonder if he has some good news in the pocket and what that might be.

Re: when, and to where, will the Ricciardo move take place?

I'm surprised this thread has gone so quiet lately, especially since right now is probably when all the meetings and conversations are taking place to determine which seat Ricciardo lands in next year. To summarise the reports & rumours recently: McLaren has had conversations with Ricciardo and rep...

Re: Boring races? People have short memories...

Eh, this race was fine I guess, for me I've had this really strange feeling in both this race and Canada that I've never felt before which is that the race kind of felt like a practise session somehow. Canada there was no overtaking which for me is fine, I like F1 the way I like cricket - for the gr...

Re: McLaren reportedly offering Daniel Ricciardo $20 Million

Right now, is not the time to go to Mclaren. They need to get their issues sorted out. Maybe it is exactly the right time to go to McLaren. McLarens F1 team is deeply disappointing this season, but they are a big organization with big money behind. Yesterday Martin Whitmarsh talked about the need t...

Re: Shower Thought: Constructor points instead of grid penal

The big problem I would have with it is that it's not a penalty with parity down the field. A ten point penalty costs Sauber, FI and STR far more than it costs Merc, Ferrari or Red Bull. It's frustrating but I think you win and lose as a team. If the driver crashes into the wall you wouldn't still ...

Re: Shower Thought: Constructor points instead of grid penal

I have read your whole post and I don't mean to be dismissive, but: You win as a team and you lose as a team. As soon as you start separating the two where do you draw the line? No problem at all! I suppose my answer to that would be that they are already separated, which is why we have a construct...

Shower Thought: Constructor points instead of grid penalties

Hey crew, I've been back at it again thinking about F1 in the shower. So this year Redbull have an outside chance performance-wise to to mix it with Ferrari and Mercedes on a good day. However, I think most of us agree that they're unlikely to have the reliability to give Dan a real shot at the cham...

Re: Shower Thought: Linking teammates via radio

Since team mates are rarely fine with each other these days, one can try to distract the other in manifold ways, telling a joke, whistling, singing, suggesting how bad he is, or other ways. I suppose if it was implemented it would need some pretty heavily regulation to prevent abuse. On the point o...

Shower Thought: Linking teammates via radio

I guess in this particular shower session I was mulling over the changes Liberty had made in a direction of attempting to modernise formula one in a way that improves the racing AND the show (hopefully without too much compromise) and overall I think they've done a reasonable job so far. One idea th...

I'm actually really impressed with where HAAS are, I suppose my recent memories of new teams in F1 is Caterham or Marrusia where they trail around the track on their own just making up the numbers and HAAS has never played that role.

Re: Drivers who have improved their pace during their career

All drivers improve their pace from their first year to their second year. This is mostly down to taking the time to adapt to the unusual characteristics of F1 (namely the unbelievably powerful brakes and the tremendous amount of grip generated by downforce). Some may even see improvement in their ...

Drivers who have improved their pace during their careers

I've been thinking about this for a little while in how whenever F1 drivers are talked about by the press or on this forum their 'pace' is presented as a constant. People will say "So and so has two tenths on whats his name" which people will still use as a benchmark 5-10 years in their careers to d...

I must admit the whole value of Kubica to me seems to be the PR story? I wasn't a serious f1 fan when he was driving originally but it seems to me he was a Hulk/S...

The only rationale I could see (for Dan) for considering this is that if it's replacing Alonso, with the attractiveness being that it's a high budget team he can build around himself, as opposed to ferrari, merc and redbull where he will need to compete. However in doing so he will be taking the exa...
