Re: Formula E

I do share a lot of the frustrations with FE that many others do. For one thing, the power overuse penalties. The cars are limited on how much power can be sent to the wheels at any given moment, but hitting a bump and taking off for a fraction of a second is deemed worthy of punishment, because the...

Re: Formula E

Interesting to read this as I didn't know there was so much going that was frustrating viewers and fans of the series. I hadn't got into it closely enough to pick up on all that. Sounds like the organisers have over-thought it and are trying too hard with format and gimmicks. I can see some of that...

It is that simple really. If you think a driver with no championship to his name is going to teach a lesson to a F3 champion, F2 champion and 7x F1 champion, you are the one dreaming.
Verstappen has 13 titles to his name according to a quick skim of his Wikipedia page.

Re: Sprint Qualifying alternative

Aside from agreeing with Jezza, I've had numerous ideas how this could be adapted and made better. The best I can think of, if we must have a sprint and a GP, is a reverse grid. So Friday's qualifying session sees the grid set for both races. The sprint, however, reverses the entire field. Points a...

I think some people need a visit to Specsavers.Lewis didn't drive into him. Watch the onboard. Max turned right into him Max turned right. In a right-handed corner. He left more than a car's width, which Lewis drifted wide in and hit him. Max turned right whilst Lewis was alongside him. He had plen...

Max cut across in the full knowledge Lewis was there, no more complicated than that. Why do people continue to post lies even when all evidence is against them? There’s overhead pictures that show that Verstappen left Hamilton approximately two cars of width down the inside. The idea that Verstappe...

There was no bullying going on here. False narrative. Verstappen gave Hamilton loads of room. Hamilton then went in too hot and understeered into him. Hamilton made a mistake was punished and that's really that. Hamilton passed both Norris and Leclerc into the same corner, they both realised the ga...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

If Verstappen has the faster car and collisions are 50/50 (unless pre-planned) then Hamilton does not have the luxury of hoping for a DNF every time he shunts into Verstappen. If Hamilton gets a DNF while being the #2 fastest car then his WDC chance is getting slimmer by the race. Who is pre-planni...

Max has form when it comes to aggressive defending. This is a known trait of his driving, and Lewis even made a joke about it when he, Bottas and Toto did the feature at Silverstone, saying he gave Toto more space "like Max". Lewis backed out in Imola, and he backed out yesterday. At some point he w...

So Checo will finish somewhere between 5th and 10th. Mercedes will follow Verstappen home. Russell will drop back. If Mazepin emulates yesterday, Haas won't finish.

I really can't look forward to this race the same as most because we know the relative pace of these cars.

There's been some good fighting here and there. Honestly I wonder if the loss of the rotating cars/engineers has eliminated some variety - and that's a good thing, this way the drivers and engineers can form more of a working relationship.

I expected to underbody downforce to be much more important than it appears to be to me, from the size of the huge front and rear wings. I can't help but wonder why that is. For years we were told that "ground effect" cars were much better for following cars, and now we see these huge wings... Perh...

It was a fun show. That said, we now know exactly how the podium will be tomorrow, barring any crashes or tyre failures, and the WCC has been hurt by Checo taking himself out while Verstappen just cemented his claim to the WDC. What will the GP show us that this hasn't?

A nice set-up for Sunday would be a sprint collision between Verstappen and Hamilton ... ;) :-P On one hand I want that, but if it happens it just vindicates the sprint format in the eyes of Liberty.
