Re: 2021 Pre-season news / Car launch dates!

Abiteboul was touted late last year for a seat on the Alpine board. I don't know what came of that but the idea that he would stay as TP was a long shot as far as I was aware. I forget the name of the new TP brought over from MotoGP but he was pretty obviously meant to be a replacement. What this ma...

Re: 2021 Pre-season news / Car launch dates!

Is it confirmed all these companies will be leaving Aston Martin? Seems like a big financial blow to the team. Several of those are Perez's personal sponsors, and BWT is obviously being replaced by a different title sponsor. That said, I do assume it's a net loss. It's hard to see Cognizant putting...

Re: Which of these 5 drivers will finish the best?

I think it depends how we rate each driver and how we expect them to do. I wouldn't expect Perez to have the raw pace to beat Max, so him being consistently 4th-6th wouldn't disappoint me even if it looks like a drubbing by Max. I can't see Vettel losing to Stroll and it'll be hard to assess how goo...

Cancel culture is absolutely a thing that exists. And it's used as a tool by both liberal and conservative people alike. However, I think it's a bit of a stretch to say it's (possibly) in action here should Mazepin be fired. Commercial interests are very different to ethical views, even if there's a...

Realistically I think we're waiting on Red Bull to confirm Perez and Tsunoda now across their 2 teams. Considering how chaotic the driver market has been this year, it's been a remarkably early end to announcements.

I'm saying Perez over Albon purely on the basis of the rumours posted above.

Checo will surely have a higher engine mode for the race, and presumably won't bother running more than Q1 (to get 19th to be on the correct side of the grid, if my thinking is right) so he'll have a bit more grunt and a vast selection of tyres come Sunday.

I'd assumed they'd support the 8 races that F2 and F3 weren't at, giving them main support status. It's a bit disappointing they'll be shoehorning it in around the expanded feeder weekends.

2009 was a new concept. By now the balance has been refined to the extreme. Plus Pirelli mandating the weight distribution has made the cars more predictable year on year I'd expect, and presumably brought it in line with F2 which helped Aitken. Then again, Russell is possibly just an exceptional ta...

The penalties give Tsunoda 3rd in the championship by 19 points, 11 off Ilott and 25 off Schumacher. Barring a shock the top 3 will likely stay the same but Shwartzman and Mazepin can no longer take P3.

It's all well and good Sky showing a series of accidents that the evolving safety in F1 meant nobody died in, but putting into the mix the crash between Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher that killed Graham Beveridge was at best tastelessly ignorant.

That's why I said all else being equal. Would he have pushed as hard without Lewis ahead? Impossible to say. Yes but not exclusively. With only one Mercedes and all else being equal (I know...) Bottas takes 6 wins. Lewis has 11. As much as I feel Bottas is underrated, he's not always following Lewis home.

There was a time when the sprint race used 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. That would be more appropriate with 2 sprint races. Have gravel EVERYWHERE. But also have the option to cover them with metal sheets for when it's cars, not bikes, at the venue. That way you get a slippery surface, which you can incline to increase momentum loss, for cars, without sacrificing the gravel for bikes.
