Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread

I didn't look it up, but apparently it is only a jump start if detected on the sensor as per the regulations. https://www.crash.net/f1/news/1045501/1/why-wasnt-lando-norris-penalised-jump-start-f1-saudi-arabian-gp Like I said just laziness, let the sensors do the work regardless of whether they are...

This is a comment from racefans, regarding Norris jump start: Article 48.1 of the Sporting regulations everybody: INCORRECT STARTING LOCATION 48.1 Any of the penalties under Articles 54.3a), 54.3b), or 54.3c) will be imposed on any driver who is judged to have: a) Moved before the start signal is g...

Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread

You can just use both surely. It's a bit ridiculous not to penalise a driver everyone very clearly saw move just because the sensor said he didn't. Although I could definitely see an argument for not penalising the sort of thing Norris did as he gained no advantage and didn't do anything unsafe. so...

Again believing in people, last time he believed in Brawn and Lauda. Both can be true, can’t it? His faith in people has been rewarded and I am sure that reuniting with Vasseur played no small role. Which is what I said. The point this is lost is that Hamilton wouldn’t be thinking about going to Fe...

That must be particular to Sky I think. The talk on F1TV is focussed on the technical changes and the on-track action. I am quite enjoying it to be honest. We may not be in for the most exciting season, that is of course the reality of having one team (and driver) ahead of the pack. One team ahead ...

One team ahead of the pack who also have the best driver who is miles better than his teammate. Not just that though. Just added my vote. I’ll go against the grain and predict that Leclerc will be quicker on Saturday and Sunday. Strategy wise neither will have an advantage and Leclerc will probably get favourable pit stops simply because he will be ahead on the track at the end of the first stint. This partnership...

There has been one driver in the history who has spend substantial efforts on legacy building. No prizes for guessing who that is. Literally everything flows from that. Yeah he ran deep into turn 5 to disadvantage Hamilton but if Sainz was behind Sainz might have taken the normal racing line and blocked Verstappen from getting a good run out of the corner. Having a plank that shows more wear than allowed, shows your ground clearance was insufficient, it doesn't show intent. Hmmm. I would say DRS needs to be kept with the current cars. They are still harder to follow than any apart from the 2017-21 era. Without DRS overtaking would just be impossible without a huge car advantage on most tracks. However, I would say it generally needs to be less effective than it is now...

Two things. The aero regs changed for 2005 which likely stopped them being dominant. The ban on changing tyres in the race were targeted to hit Bridgestone hard and did so. That stopped them from being a front runner. Once that rule was rescinded they were competitive again in 2006. It wasn't any k...
