Re: Drive to Survive
have never watched not one episode and don't plan on watching, its just not my cup of tea You actually do learn some things you were not aware of. This is true, and perhaps the main reason to watch DTS. You also get to learn (?) a bit from people like team principals, who are not as easy to know co...

Re: Drive to Survive
I found last season rather boring. I'm at episode 6 currently but, really, a boring DTS season, full of the typical hype and the annoying F1 specialist/commentator that they feature in all seasons. Whatshisname? WILL BUXTON. He's the worst thing in DTS. I can't stand Buxton. Most annoying guy in the...

My favourite was spot on observation re Ricciardo literally giving the storyboard to Netflix: “Here we have Danny Ricciardo watching on the sidelines. ‘Yeah it hurts to not be racing.’ Then all of a sudden, pans to Nyck de Vries. Lock up. [Imitates brakes screeching]. Off the track. Crash. Oh [expl...

Prost: annihilated by Senna on raw pace, I don’t even consider him a GOAT contender. On raw pace? At the races? Nothing further from the truth. Re: Hamilton vs Leclerc
It's often mentioned, that Leclerc is the fastest driver on a single lap, but honestly, how cares? You don't win races - or championships - by being fast on one lap. He's got a poor conversion rate between pole position and race wins, and I believe Hamilton will take advantage of that. Leclerc have...

Re: Has any team ever fallen harder than Aston??
Brawn did something similar in 2009. Of the first seven races they won six. And apart from one retirement neither Button nor Barrichello finished lower than fifth. But then the other teams copied the double diffuser, and that was the end of that story. Button didn't win a race again that season and...

I hope those of you that watched the race enjoyed it. I've seen the results this morning and I like the way that Mercedes and Lewis are keeping the pressure on the Red Bull team for second place in the drivers championship, they couldn't even steal this podium away from Lewis. Not much talk about Leclerc this year. It will be a valuable learning year for him, and assuming taht Ferrari come good at so...

I'm afraid it would only be possible by banning radio communication altogether, but this has important safety consequences. I don't think I agree with the safety argument, unless you're talking about banning RC overnight with the way the cars are currently set up? Clearly, the cars are currently de...

Pointless thread. F1 has always been about maximizing the performance of the car and if you want to maximize the performance you need to reduce WEIGHT, and fuel will always be HEAVY, so F1 teams will always try to put as little fuel as possible, and thus to save fuel by all possible methods. Re: Rosberg's ability (or lack of) on Race Day
I don't think his speed in a race is the big problem, i think that is very good. Where he lacks is his race management and especially fighting in the pack. He also seems to be weak under pressure. I think in 2014 Nico threw away more race wins than I think I have ever seen from a single driver in a...

Damon Hill (son of Graham) was a very decent racer, same for Jacques Villeneuve (son of Gilles); Nicolas Prost isn't doing bad at all outside of F1 and Nelson Piquet Jr. was also a good F1 driver (that's my opinion, of course.)

For me the answer is very easy -- Hulkenberg. I also think that he could have given Hamilton a hard time if he had the same car.

In my memory, 1982 (Keke Rosberg) and 1986 (Alain Prost) stand out as the prime examples. There might be a few more, but I can't remember them at this moment. Agree. Perhaps Senna 1990 could be added to the list, since Prost was totally a match for Senna that year, and could have won the title if i...

I'm very happy for him, he was one of my favorite drivers of the grid.
Note that he already had won the brazilian karting champion for 5 consecutive times in Brazil before joining F1. So it's more like a return to the roots for Rubens -- being the best driver in Brazil again.

Heikki also matched Lewis in quali. Granted he was usually pretty close to Lewis positionally, but over the period when they were teammates Lewis out-qualified him 26-9 with 11 poles to Heikki's 1.
