Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?

I still believe Masi was going to end the race with 1 lap of racing and the lapped cars staying in place and this is all within the rules. This was until Horner got in his ear and Masi changed his mind, for that alone Masi should be sacked but what came after even more so. To only let the lapped ca...

Re: Who wouldn't have won the title in the 2019 Mercedes?

Bottas is a bit overrated nowadays as a consequence of Hamilton hype, so yeah, probably a lot of guys would have been able to match his level of performance. So you think Hamilton is over hyped? So if Mercedes have the best car, why did they pay so much to put Hamilton in it if he is hyped? Wouldn'...

Re: Is Sebastian Vettel a Top-Ten All-Time Great?

It’s a no from me Senna M. Schumacher Hamilton Stewart Prost Fangio Clarke Lauda Hakkinen Alonso That’s in no particular order, just as I thought of them, but that’s 10 drivers I consider greater than Vettel. That’s only drivers who are lucky enough to be champions, the list could be different if I...

Can I also add if Lewis made a mistake and it cost Nico pole he wouldn't celebrate He'd feel bad and show it emotionally also :-/ All Nico has done celebrating is be cocky so how can this be a mistake Yes an example is Malaysia last year when Hamilton did not celebrate on the podium because of team...

Re: Why did Lewis compare himself to Senna?

I just don't think you can conclude that. Rosberg looked faster over the three seasons they were together and out scored him every season. They both had their problems and maybe Michael had more but rosberg still showed him they way. Schumacher was still very fit and so we cannot say how much speed ...

Re: Why did Lewis compare himself to Senna?

I was a teenager during the Prost/Senna era. Hamilton is no Senna. And I don't mean that he's not quick or aggressive on the track like Senna as he is. I mean that Senna had more charisma (love him or hate him) in his little pinkie than Hamilton has in his whole body. He was a passionate and articu...

Because he's convinced himself he is the second coming of Senna. Which he ain't Do you really believe yourself when you write this stuff. Saying you like someones solution to a situation is not saying you are like him its saying you look up to him or his way of doing things. You do realise that Lew...

Re: The advantage is obvious now

I think a lot of people who comment on Red Bull are not really complaining about them as such but want to see close racing. For me though not a supporter of either, Red Bull and Vettel have been hugely impressive for the last four seasons and deserve their success. It doresn't stop me wondering how ...

Re: Unarguably the best driver on the grid

Vettel is a great driver. Though not a big fan I'm convinced of that and respect his ability and achievements. That said, we don't know how much is the car and his place it the team. If you look at how much he was able to pull away from Hamilton in the first couple of laps and then pull away from Al...

Re: how much ground work was done by shumi and roseberg

All the posts in this thread about Shumi having got the better of Nico in 2012 is confusing to me. I agree a case can be made in 2012 only for Schumi having got the better of Nico by some criteria but if he did it was by small margins and it would be highly subjective. They were teammates for 3 seas...

Re: Are Mercedes doing a 'Ferrari'?

Last season, during the first half the 2012, the Ferrari was very difficult to drive & the only fact that they got results was that Alonso was driving the wheels of the thing! (Credit where credit is due). Massa's best finish for the first half of the season was 4th in GB, but was 6th or lower for ...

Re: Mercedes Tire and results since the private test

The punishment was amazingly lenient. I thought the least FIA could do was exclude them from a qualifying session. The results show the tests did indeed help them. The rest of the teams should now do the same. Conduct a single test and face the tribunal. After all, the pros outweigh the cons! The p...

Re: Mercedes Tire and results since the private test

All this conspiracy theory talk is crazy. The tribunal concluded that Merc acted in good faith and thought they had permission. MB were not trying to cheat. Are we sayin g that the tribunal was corrupt? The Test was to try and help Pirelli prevent the sort of problem we had this weekend with the tyr...

Re: What Does Vettel Have To Do?

There are clearly a lot of F1 fans on herre who think that although Vettel is very good we do not know enough about him to rate him against others. I am not a vettel fan but I rate him as a driver and think he may well be better than Alonso, Lewis, Kimi and all the others he's raced against. We just...

Re: Vettel: "Mark is too slow get him out of the way" [MERGE

The comparison with Silverstone 2011 is not really a fair one in my view. The team order today was a fair and reasonable one. Both drivers agreed to it before hand. My understanding is that the current team orders regime was a reaction by the team to previous battles. In 2011, the team were calling ...

Re: How do we know that the F2012 was not a good car?

What's the point of this thread apart than attacking a couple of drivers? It depends if people want to debate sensibly or not. 2012 was an interesting season because we saw multiple drivers qualifying well down the field and getting good results (e.g. Alonso, Hamilton, Perez, Vettel). It wasn't all...

Re: How do we know that the F2012 was not a good car?

Since when does qualifying win the WDC? Since Red Bull turned it into an art form. There is more to the "Art form" than just the Quali. Getting the most out ofthe car and out of the DRS in the early laps are also part of it. If Seb wasn't getting those early laps in Quali wouldn't mean much. Yes I ...

Re: How do we know that the F2012 was not a good car?

For what its worth I think that the Ferrari car and to a degree the Saber car in 2012, with the DRS and tyre issues we saw, created an unusual situation for F1. There were many races where we saw Alonso qualify 5th and well of the pace and then 10 laps into the race Alonso had the best race pace and...

Re: How well would Vettel have done in Ferrari's F2012?

I think we should be careful describing the Ferrari as the fourth best car in 2012. It was unusual in that it was poor in qualifying so seemed slow but good in the race and is therefore difficult to evaluate. It also varied a lot from circuit to circuit. Alonso was good but the Ferrari was super rel...

Re: But really, How good is Vettel?

The truth is we cannot know. There are so many variables in the car and team that there are no absolute certainties with the top drivers in the sport. I think that if Alonso or Hamilton had been in the Red Bull the last three years they would probably all have won three world championships. With all...

Re: How well would Vettel have done in Ferrari's F2012?

I think its very difficult to say. The difference between the top drivers is small. I think Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel would all have won in the Red Bull. I think They would all have done well in the Ferrari. Their strengths, weaknesses and driving styles would have made it an interesting battle.

I think this is a bit of a myth. Clearly both Vettel and Hamilton are top drivers but I don't think Hamilton has made as many pistakes in his career as Vettel has. His early years in motorsport were not easy. He earned his seat in McLaren. I remember after 2008 season If you dared to post 'Massa drove better and had more bad luck he deserved the title' the response was always 'Shut up, LH won the WDC that means he drove better'. And the same in 2009 when Button won in that ridiculous car, and again in 2011 with Vettel. Winning a WDC ...
