Re: EU to investigate F1

Not that F1 has the balance right by any means but it's not as black and white as it seems. I think costs are the bigger problem that the sport needs to combat. The teams shouldn't be dependent on these payments just to stay in business, but with current costs they are. The franchise system in the ...

Re: Anyone fed up with the amount of criticism Maldonado get

Anyone with a notorious past can expect that past to be brought up over and over until they have built sufficient accomplishments to overshadow that past. Maldonado has not done that, so his past will always be a part of any conversation about him.

Wasn't it the EU that originally ruled that the FIA couldn't be both the ruling organization and also the commercial rights holder for the sport? Now that the FIA have given up their rights as the sole organization to make rules for F1 in exchange for money from FOM and also in exchange for owning a...

Re: Anyone fed up with the amount of criticism Maldonado get

Maldonado has done OK this year and been very unlucky. The criticism that he receives is due as much to his past as to anything he does currently. Grosjean has managed to grow out of early-career criticisms, but Maldonado has not. Again, this may not be 100% fair, but Pastor makes things difficult h...

Might be going against the flow but I'm not sure what business it is of the EU, tbh. I don't see why they should have any say in how the sport is run? Not a fan of this latest development. Quite disappointed at this actually, after a shaky start Merhi has made some good progress this year and has been outperforming Stevens recently. I am not sure if they are planning on using those two engines until the end of the season, but if you have an extra engine in case one blows up, and you're already being penalized to the back of the grid, it makes sense to qualify the other for use in case you need it later on.

One of the reasons that the F1 scoring system was changed was because people were bored with only 6 contenders scoring points out of a field of 20-26 cars. If we had 50-70 people competing and only ten scored, I would quickly become bored and leave.

So, maybe if Renault buy Lotus, they transfer the Mercedes engine contract from Lotus to red Bull. Renault and Mercedes end up supplying the same number of teams that way. And I think Mercedes has said recently that they (now) would be OK with the idea of supplying Red Bull.
