Re: Calling it now: Hamilton's records will never be broken

I would class myself as a big F1 fan who has lost most of his interest for the last couple of years due to Mercedes dominance. Lewis will go down as the best in his era. As was Schumacher before, and Senna before then. There are just generational talents that fit the machinery. I hope to see a matur...

Re: Would F1 2015 be better without Mercedes? must read

I've watched F1 religiously since 1998 (I know, not that long). I was the type that would get up in the early hours to watch the build up and race, every race. I've watched seasons of car dominations and f1 has always kept my interest but this season doesn't feel like f1 to me and I'm struggling to ...

Re: What can be done about lift and coast...?

I was at the Montreal Gp last weekend and honestly was disappointed because I could see the cars lifting and coasting towards the hairpin. I believe Lewis Hamilton when he said he had in under control and I believe this has been the case for too many GPs... It made me contrast with Mika Hakkinen's ...

Re: What can be done about lift and coast...?

I get that in previous years we had less communication from the pits and tthat drivers were looking after the cars too, but in my opinion this era should be a different challenge than it currently is. I urge people to read Couthard's column as posted above. This is a recent f1 driver who is saying t...

Re: A way to achieve parity?

I really don't like this idea. I'm tired of f1 becoming more about entertainment than a sport and for me this falls back in to that. The way to solve money parity, is to actually solve 'money parity.' Agree with the above both post to split the majority evenly with the rest being performance based. ...

Re: Cheering when a rival driver DNFs

When a rival driver/team DNF I have celebrated... But my concern is always that the driver is okay beforehand. There are exceptions, I felt for Hakkinen in Spain 2001 despite supporting Schumy. Just found this vid of Hakkinen's retirement and Schumachers radio message regarding it (~4 min mark). Int...

Re: why is no-one criticising Massa

Massa is a fast driver but his head has always dropped when he is on the back foot. IMO he lost the 2008 championship in Singapore not because of Ferrari's pit mistake, but his response to it and an inability to pick up a crucial couple of points he should have in an otherwise dominant car that week...

Re: Should we see Vettel now as similar to other RB juniors?

I'm not someone who rates Vettel towards the top of my personal "best F1 drivers ever" due to his achievements BUT , I think it would be harsh to conclude that he isn't better than Ricciardo based on this year. He deserves more time to make that conclusion. I think Vettel and Red Bull had created a ...

France 2002 - Not final lap but 5 laps to go, Kimi losing a potential first win with a mistake on some oil gifting it to Schumacher.

Re: Schumi The Best - 1994 -?

Schumacher was the best driver 94-2000 IMO. He just brought a new fitness and naturally ability to that generation of F1. I think he just fit in to that style of motorsport. In 2001-2004 Ferrari became dominant and Schumacher was ultra-professional. 2005 was a write-off because of the tyre war which...

Re: Vettel-Rosberg Double Standards

If you bothered thinking about it, you'd realize that the deserving (i.e. faster) drivers were Webber and Rosberg. And both lost out, hence the different opinions. I dont think Vettel was undeserving at all. He was on pole by a big margin. Kept the lead nicely. Only to have strategy put him behind ...

That is and always will be Brawns team (while he is there) On the plus side, I believe it was Brawn who built the team around MS at Ferrari, so who knows what wil happen. I think one of MS' most important skills was being a very good test driver during the days when mass testing was allowed. I thin...

Re: Caterham should drop Kovalainen

Heikki is a proven average driver during his 1 year stint at Renault and even more so during his 2 years at McLaren. With him driving at the back of the grid, I feel he may not be driving to the limits the car is capable of. And being at the back, there may be less pressure to perform as Marussia a...

Re: Schumacher raises important point regarding Pirellis

F1 is just so slow these days during the race, it's almost painful to watch onboard. I watch the 98-2001 period now and I sigh at how fast the cars looked even if grip levels weren't as high at times, cars were pushing always. It has always been aerodynamics and lack of focus on mechanical grip that...

Bob Varsha on Speed made the same comment, so Brundle at least wasn't the only one who had that thought. He said something about it during the race also when DiResta led, but that was so brief that it didn't make much difference. It would be colossally petty of FOM, but then again.... Is'nt the cam...

Force India question - Bahrain Qualifying

1. McLaren pit wall sucks as do their pit stops. 2. Brawn has twice in two races gives strategies to his drivers to send them to the back. Master tactician or the worst tactician on the grid? Jeez people, to paraphrase Sauber were saying "don't take unecessary risk, remember we need these points." He then made a mistake.

Great drive by both Perez and Alonso. Neither are in great cars and both deserve plaudits. I think people are forgetting how bad the Ferrari is "this year."

I'm not sure if this is meant to suggest Rosberg was pegging Schumacher but a net gain of 3.3 seconds after 7 laps is a reasonable difference

With all due respect to our American friends here, the sky coverage was a bit Americanised. At least with the bbc it felt like "normal guys" walking down the pit lane enjoying the circus. I think he has lost pace but could still win a championship in a great car and grab the odd opportunist win in an "almost" car. The difference is in his first career he could make the difference in a good car. I think Schumacher just "clicked" in F1 when he came in to the sport. I still wonder wheth...
