Re: F1 Gossip/Rumour/Inside news Thread

Found this: A revised qualifying format will be used at the two races in 2023 where there will be a reduction in the total number of tyres sets. It will be mandatory for drivers to use the Hard compound in Q1, Medium compound in Q2 and Soft compound in Q3. Drivers will receive half as many soft tyr...

Anyone know why Australia isn’t the season opener as has been the norm?
Cash is king. Bahrain paid good money to have the season opener. Likewise, Abu Dhabi pays good money to have the last race of the season.

Nico Rosberg, why not? Maybe Nico Hulkenberg. Or even Kimi, if he can be bothered.

What I’d like to see is Seb go to Merc, Checo back at Aston, they love him there and Pierre back to Red Bull and a new kid at Alpha Tauri.

Shame the brakes failed, would have been nice to seem him finish the race and hear him on the radio. Though I doubt that would have received any coverage considering what transpired at the end!

I read on Autosport that Max is now claiming worn tyres caused him to wash out wide. How convenient that this only happened on one lap and that happened to be when Lewis was passing him. Is there a chance that the FIA can appeal themselves, or something along those lines and apply a 5-second Penalt...

Was wondering if we'd get a sub 1 minute qualifying lap this year. Looks unlikely.

Last year's pole time was 1.02.9. and Max has just done a 1.05.4 in P2. Not sure we are going to have a 5 second improvement between now and qualifying. Maybe they could get close next weekend.

Anybody got an update on the all new Ferrari engine for this year?

Pretty much every year we get rumours (mostly from the Italian media) that the engine is up N horsepower from the previous year and how it's (supposedly) more powerful than the Merc.

It's been unusually quiet.

Barring any reliability issues or Max related off the line mayhem, Lewis should win. I reckon both red bulls will finished ahead of Kimi. Seb should be sixth easily, and if he can get Bottas, he should finish 4th. By then the top 3 would probably be out of reach. He will finish no lower than 5th. Ha...

Bottas for me

His collision with Kimi ensured that Kimi's bodywork kept falling off frequently which led to SC after SC, which led to Seb running into Lewis (twice!)

Middle of the road race by Kimi.
