Re: Vote now! Obama vs. Romney

Anyone who votes for Romney is an idiot. Even if you aren't keen on Obama but hate Romney and you are planning to abstain I'd encourage you not to. Just vote Obama to stop Romney the idiot from getting power. If Romney wins the US is in big trouble and so is the world. Only valid in Ohio. :P You ov...

Re: Vote now! Obama vs. Romney

If Mitt Romney plans to be a moderate President why has he chosen Paul Ryan as VP? He would be the archetype right wing lunatic. Why does he refuse to say how he will fund his tax cuts? He will give everyone a big tax cut and fund it by closing loopholes that wont affect the middle class. Thats just...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

But more "independent" bodies means more admin, more funding, more money, even more power etc etc. The idea that the UCI should have to answer more fully to its role in these matters, is a good one - getting out of it by saying "nah, we bought a machine with the money and we're not FIFA you know" d...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

So, if Armstrong had been a less abrasive character do you think we would be seeing this campaign now? Has he simply upset too many people over the years and they are now getting back at him? I just ask because cycling does seem to have a history of not seriously going after obviously doped athlete...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

Omerta at its finest. Samuel Sanchez is against the decision to sanction Lance Armstrong for doping, because the American “never tested positive.” There was no direct evidence, only “verbal accusations”, the Euskaltel-Euskadi rider said. "I don't find it right,” he told La Sexta. “I think there sho...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

Sigh... it was a sign of the times. Football exposure exploded, as did F1 and just about any other sport. But nooohhh, Lance is the Devil. Nakojo, you didn't even know Bassons and Simeoni rode on a different team to Armstrong. A bit like Laura I'm not sure you have the knowledge to offer an informe...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

Yeah, Armstrong is the big big baddie and when he hangs, the sport will be cleaned up and we can all go to sleep with a sense that all is well in the world... Whatever you may think of the man, his foundation Livestrong raised over $500 million for cancer. Achieve something worthwhile like that bef...

Re: Lance Armstrong: still a Great?

If Armstrong had just been one of the cyclists taking drugs then I'd probably shrug my shoulders and say "well, they're all doing it so what difference does it really make to his reputation if he was as well". For me it is the fact that the evidence indicates it goes so far beyond that. He cultivat...

Re: Vote now! Obama vs. Romney

I have no real opinion on it. My views bounce between the parties on different issues and sometimes I just think everyone is a nincompooper. In my last election, I voted Labour, not because I think their policies were better, and although imo their financial policies were hideous, but because I liv...

No, that is not what i am saying, keoni. Though certainly it does appear to come off that way. I guess I don't know exactly what it is I am trying to say. Just frustration I guess. I am still not 100% convinced that Armstrong is as guilty as they make him out to be, but the circumstantial evidence ...

Re: The Official Tour de France 2012 Thread

It's the 100th edition of the Tour de France, Prudhomme intentionally cut down the climbs in this year's race to increase the appetite for next year's. Alpe D'huez will feature as an individual time trial according to most sources. I'd like to see some new climbs apart from the usual Tourmalet, Gal...

Re: The Official Tour de France 2012 Thread

If Froome wants to win the Tour he has to leave. Wiggins will come back next year with 'No. 1' on his back as defending champ. Surely he would want to repeat his win? Even though he said he would help Froome win next year I can't see it. There is already tension between them not to mention the Twit...

Re: USADA formally charges Lance Armstrong with doping

My 2 cents. I grew up in a small town called Carrick on Suir in the south of Ireland where there was massive unemployment in the 80's. (I think it hit 80%) The morale of the town was terrible at every level. The people were fantastic but the town was utterly miserable. Then along came a guy called ...
