Just had an email from Sony confirming they'll be switching off the servers for GT5 on 31/05 and are having a massive online event - apparently those who log in will get some more cars to use in GT6? I might have to try and find the game now!

Yes that's right. However they are giving away a few cars for Use in GT6, on the final online event on the game. Should have been more IMO.f

I haven't heard anything about a mitsubishi VGT, interesting :) there seems to be a Volkswagen GTi VGT coming out soon as well.

I downloaded the update yesterday and when it was finished it flashed 'New' on my garage but when I clicked on it there was nothing? I thought they'd be the Senna cars!

Yep, It's supposed to be a game bug. Cars that are added but they are not visible.

I'm back into GT6 now, one thing that's annoying me though is the AI on the Red Bull Standard championship, the amount of times the AI randomly brakes mid corner making me rear end them is annoying me as I sometimes spin out because of this.

A quick question, what is the fastest concept/prototype car in GT4? And that's discluding the Ferrari F2007, LM Prototypes, or X-Series cars. I don't have the money to get them!! :P

I don't know how close to reality that you want to stay, but that Nike car seemed to be pretty fast IIRC and I don't think you had to buy it as it was a prize car for something.

I'm pretty sure you can win the Toyota Minolta, not 100% sure but it could have been from the German touring car championship. The Minolta is a beast as well.

The toyota Minolta is such a beast, once I unlocked it, it was my race winner! (both in GT4 and GT5)

Yeah, same happened with me, it's such a good car. Not sure if it carries over to GT6 though, not really used it (or even unlocked it yet?), I imagine it will be though!

First and foremost you do not need to unlock any cars in gt6. They are all available at the show room.

I second your opinion on the Toyota Minolta. It definitely is a beast and has won me many races indeed it is available in gt6

Handling-wise, yes. Also more circuits and easier ways to obtain vehicles - PLUS the Ayrton Senna Tribute!

Which PP class do you guys race under?

Which do you think is the best?

I generally race under 500PP/550PP/600PP (Mostly 500PP)

I mostly use the NSX - 92/02 versions (brilliant car if known how to drive), also the BMW M3 CSL / GTR.

The weight distribution on the CSL is just perfect for my driving style.

Just curious to see what other PP people race under and your favourite cars under it.

I'm usually in 500pp as well. I never got round to buying high performance cars and never progressed in career, which is the main reason. Now I just know all those braking points so I stick to it. But I got FIFA, so my Gran Turismo stint is all but over. :(

Damn bro, I thought once a racer always a racer. I have gone off FIFA now, I alternate from F1 to Gran Turismo.

My racing stint will happen again in June! I have a tonne of exams this year so I won't be playing much, just got FIFA as it won't frustrate the hell out of me as GT constantly freezes and takes an hour just to have one race a lot of times. Is very inefficient with time... :-|

Until June? That is crazy. Why does it constantly freeze? this seems rather odd?

The loading times are not that bad to be honest. it is much of an improvement from GT5.

Yeah, welcome to Ireland's education system!

It's always freezing, probably because of combination of things: old Ps3, crap Internet, GT exceeding the capabilities of the Ps3 etc. Like, I can't play quick match as it would constantly disconnect. Then it freezes on entering lobbies, black screen on race starts, unable to race with more than ten cars 'cos of internet etc etc etc. Yeah the loading times are great, I don't mind that. I just don't play offline because it's a piece of sh/t. Sorry to be so blunt about it, but it really is.

The Acura NSX (is it 1991?) is my favourite car in GT6, car has so much agility and keeps you on your toes, won something like 30 of the Career races with it. I find the racing cars in GT6 generally feel like garbage, so sterile and lifeless. So I generally stick to the road cars on standard or sports tyres.

Last time I played I was having some fun with a downtuned Audi RS6, was trying to get it to mimic my own car (A4 Quattro) but the thing is far too powerful even when tuned down. Problem with the tuned down cars too is the powerband, it is literally flat, so instead of getting a smooth power line up to your 260bhp (or whatever it's at) you get a flat line of 260bhp all the way through the revs.. so the car is a complete monster of torque/power compared to a real 260bhp car.

Not an Avant version (estate), and also I don't think it comes with a premium model, so there would be no interior and I'm a sucker for that interior view!

Played this over the weekend for the first time since August last year - I can't believe I stayed away for so long!

Still halfway through my licences (I only unlocked the Red Bull challenge yesterday) but I can see myself getting pretty into it before this year's GT Academy is open.

Now I only wish the missus would go out for an evening so I can set up my DFGT!

I also like the fact that you can compete with your friends whilst doing the licence tests to see who has the best times, it adds a bit more competition IMO!

No prob, no sob.

For me winning is not important. I'd prefer competing with a genuine racer. It just gets more fun.

As of now, enjoying the Matterhorn time trial.

GT6 is better then GT%, I wouldn't say it's a new game completely but more of a refined version of GT5. They need to do so much work for GT7, I just hope it lives up to the hype and bloody time delay. I'm hearing release in 2017!?! First and foremost the whole game needs a revamp in all aspects. Secondly they need 360 degree view and more premium cars, better game physics, and obviously graphics. Time will tell.

Not bothered, probably have 30 hours of updating to go through in order to be able to play online again. I don't think I'll be playing much of GT6 anymore, haven't properly played it since Autumn as those 1.5 gig updates are too overwhelming. Online racing was brilliant, but crap offline.

Can't wait for Pcars for the summer!!

Managed to put in a few laps with the pad after ten (10!) updates... Apparently I had last played the game in Dec. 2013... 2.08.556 so far for me. I wish I had time to set up the wheel in the near future but doesn't look like will.
