Still love playing this game, currently setting times around Spa with all my cars, sad I know but it's been keeping me sane throughout the F1 break.

I really hope you are being sarcastic ;)

Gran Turismo is a really good racing game, fantastic graphics and fantastic car physics, for me at least who only plays games on consoles and not PC's you really can't do better than the GT series :)

Yes I was, just saying what ScuderiaFerrari said in the Forza thread and then he started this one!

I just never understand the Forza/GT thing, it doesn't really matter what's better on one or the other, both are good games and both should be enjoyed by everyone. When you get into the this is better than that, then you get the PC snobs saying nothing is better than iRacing or something and only people who use a proper wheel are proper racing gamers etc, it's all just a bit pointless and everyone should be left to enjoy whatever they are playing without silly snide comments - hence the reason I wrote just what he did in the other thread with the added smiley so people would hopefully see it as sarcasm/a bit of fun.

Anyway, everyone get back to what they doing and enjoy their racing games (whatever you're playing) ;)

Never read the Forza thread so never saw ScuderiaFerraris comment, completly agree about the this is better than that etc, at the end of the day you play what you enjoy, because you enjoy it not because someone wants you to play it, I've never played iracing, rfactor so I really can't compare the PC sims to console sims.

One sim that looks very intresting is Project C.A.R.S, but that may need its own official thread :)

Good for you Minchy. That's the bottom line, that no matter what the platform of software, all that matters is that you enjoy yourself.

I don't like it when some people use it to support their snobbery, just because it costs more, or you have to have this hardware, or that hardware, and so on.

And yes, I do have GT5, and enjoy it a lot.

Love the GT series games. Loved GT4 as well.

So many circuits & innumerable tracks makes it an addiction.

Cant wait for gt6!! A question about gt5. Which years regs are the formula gt car built after? Early 2000's?

PSQ wrote:Cant wait for gt6!! A question about gt5. Which years regs are the formula gt car built after? Early 2000's?

Good question... Hard to say. I presume the body is taken from early 2000 F1 cars however the formula for the engine is matched by mid to late 90s, as 3.0L engines turned out between 700-900bhp. The Formula GT pumps out 888bhp from it's 3.5 V12 revving to 18,000rpm.

To sum it up, its not a Formula 1, its a Formula GT. Mine has about 950HP, I don't think any 90's car had that much power from a naturally aspirated engine. I think the body in some parts seems like the F2004 but has its own front/nose which is different from any f1 car from that era.

Probably the best racing game I rated before I met RFactor and F1C. I haven't tried the leagues yet, I need a new steering wheel :X

For me GT5 is way better than rFactor no matter if it's slightly less realistic

Speaking of Gran Turismo, Game (UK)lowered the price of the GT6 Anniversary edition to £59.99. I loved GT5 so I'l definitely be getting it. Have to say though, after so much time spent playing PC racing games/sims it really does take a lot of adjusting to go back to the console with their blurry/jaggy graphics.

Fairplay to the Gran Turismo series on the PS3 they do a good job modelling all the stuff and have the most realistic lighting, but the resolution running in game is so low compared to what you get used to on the PC that it's hard to adjust. It's like looking at one of those "recorded on a toaster" 240p videos on youtube, after watching quality 1080p videos.

Really looking forward to this. I wish they had more F1 circuits and got rid of B-spec events which were pointless to me. Car customisation should be good aswell

GT6 is gonna be great!!!

The thing I look forward the most is... You will be able to replicate any real life roads or tracks using a smartphone app and the GPS, and then you will transfer the data to the PS3, and play it!! HOW FREAKIN COOL IS THAT???? OMG

I agree. B_spec events should be even limited just by the distance, like how we had a few that were upto 300kms.

A 4 hour endurance race even feels a tad too long. If they have allowed B-Spec saves again in GT6, where we could save in between the game, then it's alright to keep long races on B-Spec level.

In GT4, I loved the great variety of wheels, wings etc.

Anyway, I know GT6 won't disappoint.

Scroll down into Update
Course Maker
This feature, available at a later stage through an update, will allow you to create your own custom tracks that can be driven in the game. Additionally, in another update we will add the possibility to generate a track by capturing the GPS coordinate data of a mobile app while you are driving that course. This GPS-generated tracks will be available in the game as playable content.

So GT6 has been out for a whole day now, can anyone give me a stellar reccomendation to go and buy the game rather than wait for the complete version which I presume will release in a years time? (roughly anyway). Honestly I think the graphics look superb, makes me think developers can't do much more no matter what the hardware is like, first time I saw footage of the moon stages I joked with a family member that they had sent a rover to the moon, they were shocked when it turned out to be a game.

Can anyone comment on the major changes from GT5 which I thought was a great game, but still had room for improvements, mainly a fast forward function for b-spec races.

From what I know, there is just one car dealership. I think races start with a rolling start. lots of tracks and cars. Steering greatly improved. Weather conditions and day/night.

- The UI is much better, thank god.
- The only car you're allowed to buy initially is a 2010 Honda Fit.
- The license tests aren't available to you at first, and you unlock them by working your way through the races. Like half way through the Novice races unlocks the B-license tests, half way through the B Series races unlocks the A Series tests.
- The lunar rover missions are unlocked after completing the first few series in the B racing series, and they're kind a fun diversion. Managed to somehow barrel roll when I crested a hill too fast while also hitting a rock with the left side wheels.
- Lots of new tracks, some where available via DLC before but are now part of the game. Everybody here in the states are creaming their pants over Willow Springs being included.
- At first I was thinking that the AI drivers were much better, but they're really not. They seem to be more aware if you're inside them at the apex but not always, and they still always brake mid-corner and sometimes on corner exit. So a little better but not much.

That's my experience so far. I haven't seen (or bothered looking for) the B Spec stuff yet. I'm not really bothered about that until I can start getting into the endurance races where I'm hoping that you can use those drivers to drive stints like in GT 4.

Almost forgot. The car you can use in a race is now based on the PP rating as well as the car type. So it'll say limited to cars of 400 PP and FF drive train. So now it's not as hard to find an evenly matched car in your garage so that you're not getting totally dusted, or have a Vettel like lead after the second corner. I was hoping they'd bring back qualifying so you could have a better chance with a lesser car but it seems that it's not to be.

Oh my gosshhh, I got the game since 3 days ago and it's AWESOME! The physics are much much better, lots of new interesting cars, lots of new interesting tracks, and there's an update coming that will change the sounds to make them much improved. And of course the GPS creator which I can't freaking wait for it

I've been playing some GT5 ahead of buying GT6 to get myself in the mood :). Driving a maxed out NSX on a wet Nordschleife is the must fun I've probably ever had in the game!

I dont think that's gonna be very useful because the physics are quite different, especially if you're using SRF. GT5+SRF is quite unrealistic because the car just won't spin, you will have an insane amount of grip.

Yeah, it's just to get in the mood, not for practice :) But interesting to hear that the physics are quite different.

Ok so I have had GT6 1 & 1/2 days now. Summery in short? It's great :)

I really enjoy the early stages of the game where you find yourself driving hot hatches and tuning them to maximum, coupled with the classic understeer a high powered front wheel drive car has. Just something fun about it :)

Really like the way the licence tests have been put to the end of a section of races, then you must pass the licence before unlocking the next series of races, however if you wish you probably can unlock all the tests/races quite early on as the amount of stars (reward system for races now, as well as credits) are quite low to unlock the licence. For example, in the national b section of races you only need 20/90 stars to unlock the test. You can easily get this from 3 or 4 cups before moving on if you want. Just note this isn't a critiscism as this allows players to advance at their own pace, which is good for someone who wants maximum enjoyment over a shorter time.

The good wood festival of speed is also great, not too hard to get gold on them but some of the cars are a real handful to keep on track.

The only bad challenge so far is an Eco challenge, where you have to drive 2.18 miles of the nurturer ing in under 2 mins using only one litre of fuel. My best so far is 1.69 miles and that was after 3 tries, got annoyed at it at my fourth attempt.

So in short, so far, so good!

Polyphony sure do love supporting their games, been out nearly two weeks and it's had around 2.5gb over 3 patches, two weighing in at 1.2gb +.

Don't get me wrong as it's great to see a developer actually fix any problems with the game, on,y problem being I haven't found many so wonder what the huge patches have been for. I presume the initial 1.2gb will have been enabling the online side of things.

I thought that but it wasn't so bad, 45 mins to download and a few to install, internet allowance will take a hit this month though!
