As Mercedes notched up their 5th 1-2 almost everyone got them right, but no-one forecast Ferrari to fail to get either car on the podium. No-one had Verstappen on the podium either. Haas's best result of the season took everyone by surprise, as did Renault getting both cars to the finish. The best results came from those who got the final 3 teams right or close to it. So in the points it was a close finish, headed again by Charles LeBrad who got all those 3 right as well as Mercedes. He strengthens his lead at the top of the standings. Is it too early to be talking about the 2019 champion?

Almost a blanket finish this time. With the results from race to race quite similar and no retirements other than Leclerc this is perhaps to be expected. Every one got Mercedes right, but only CharlesLeBrad got both Red Bulls in the 4-6 group. And many got Williams right, which is not very surprising given their consistency. The three of us who shared the podium all got Racing Point right too, but Torro Rosso's good result took everyone by surprise. The midfield points scoring teams are where the differences often come, and with scoring so close avoiding a 0 for a team is a bonus.

Oddly enough, Vettel's 5-second penalty made no difference to the scores as everyone forecast Mercedes and Ferrari the same. The 2 podiums for Ferrari and Bottas only finishing 4th caught everyone out, as did Renault's double top 10 finish. In general those who got at least 2 of Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and Racing Point right did best, but it was another close result.

CharlesLeBrad's lead is cut slightly, but it still looks a strong one one-third of the way through the year. Maybe those following need a riskier strategy to close up?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am considering allowing players who forget or are unable to enter a prediction for a race to call up an old prediction which I would enter for them. I had thought of allowing players to have a back-up prediction, but on reflection it would be simpler to re-enter a player's prediction for the previous race.

What are peoples' thoughts on allowing this? If it is allowed, should there be a penalty (say 50% of points as for late entires)?

Round 8 is the French Grand Prix, on June 23rd.

I'd say no rule changes mid-season, personally.
