Has anyone had a chance to play the beta test yet? If so would be curious to hear peoples thoughts!
Obviously the top times appear to have been set by mutants who have the reactions of actual Jesus, but it's still been pretty fun so far..

Is it available? I'd love to try this out in 4k.

It's currently a closed beta but I think they'll be opening things up at some point soon to push the servers. I managed to get a code through work

Everything I know about it comes from my son telling me about what he's read because I haven't been following the developments so large grains of salt here.

My understanding is that it's going to be heavily geared toward online game play. There won't be a true campaign mode and really the only offline game play will be an arcade mode without tire wear, fuel consumption, etc. and the license tests.

Doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

Anyone get a chance to play the demo of this last week?

Looks and sounds impressive but I think the lack of GT mode is really going to hurt this game.

I keep hearing it's not a full GT game (i.e. GT7) but for the price I would want a bit more than some driving school challenges and online lobbies.

I downloaded it and played it last week. I go back a long way with GT. Got the first one in 1997 and have had all of them since. Basically I was expecting not to like it, what with the emphasis on online play and no old-fashioned single player car collector mode.

I must say that I was absolutely stunned by how great it was! The game has unbelievable presentation quality and graphics. It's the first game to make me really appreciate the fact that I plunged for the 4k HDR TV and PS4 Pro. Looks absolutely brilliant and it has vastly updated and improved physics and handling. It's a solid racing simulation now though not as hard-core as iRacing or rFactor. I think it' strikes a good balance between realism and approachability. Turn off the assists and you will have your hands full.

As for the racing; there is much more of a focus on online racing. I thought I would hate this as I am generally not into online multiplayer (I dabble in it but prefer to play single player 90% of the time). For this game it just really works. They have created an ecosystem in which etiquette counts for something. If you barge into players, you will be routed into races with other dangerous drivers. The game runs VERY smoothly online and I was able to really enjoy the races. Of course racing against other people is always more of a challenge than simply racing AI. It's usually the idiots that crash into you at the first corner as well as the lag and other performance issues that turns me off to online play but I had none of those issues at all. It was a great experience.

The single player content includes driving tests, challenges and perhaps the best tool I've ever seen in a racing game for learning the tracks. It basically takes you through a track sector by sector; allowing you to perfect each sector before putting the whole lap together.

The game isn't perfect and I do think that they will need to add more single player content in the future (just the ability to pick a car and race in a championship in your class single player would be enough). That being said, I am 100% buying the full game. Most fun I've had playing a racing game in a while!

Edit: Okay so I already basically put this one down lol. It's fun for a while but it is woefully light on any kind of single player content. Personally I'm not always looking to be in a competitive online race so this game has some serious issues for me.

Has anyone purchased the game? What the review from Your point of view?

I haven't bought it as yet because of the lack of offline racing / career mode. I just read that more offline race mode will be added into the game via upgrade. Will wait for this & then buy the game. Always have been a fan of GT & it sucks not to buy one as of now.

Played it a couple of times when I visit my dad (he has way more spare time than I do!) and I like it. Cars feel much more responsive and the rally stages are so much fun. The cars sound raw, and if you have surround sound or a sub then you're in for a treat.

My only gripes - and always have been - are that the AI is to easy (although better at defending) and that damn tyre squeal! Also I HATE the way the hands grip the wheel when using cockpit view (I prefer Project Cars and F1 2017 in this regard).

Also there's some nice additions like the livery editor and user liveries. Saw a gold JPS Lotus-sponsored Aston Martin which is bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful, plus some gorgeous concepts as usual.

All in all, I'd give it 8/10, but as I've said I've played it less than a handful of times. Maybe I can convince the wife to make a purchase and give a more in-depth comment in the new year.

Thanks for the review.

The rally segment is in offline or online mode? I've hardly ever played online in GT. I've heard there will be a big addition to the offline segment through an upgrade.

Offline, although I haven't tried online mode yet, just the mission-type stuff.

They're also bringing back the Sunday Cup like in the classic GT games.

FYI, this is the most intense online racing you can get on console. I honestly think this game is amazing. It's one of those cases where they released the game prematurely and then fleshed it out with a lot off free DLC. Buying this game right now, you'll be a very happy customer.

If you've played the more hardcore PC sims like iracing, imagine that but with a player base that is exponentially larger. The matchmaking system is great and there are so many players that you can get a super close race with 20+ cars and all drivers of similar ability. You can enter a race like this every 20 minutes online! It's brilliant. Couldn't recommend this game more but beware of the penalty system. It's an effective deterrent to ramers and bad drivers but it gets the penalties wrong very often. You will frequently have the experience of getting hit by another car and then getting a penalty to boot.

Fell out of love with it after 4, even though I still bought 5 and 6.

I got mega, mega annoyed with the way they did the Nissan LMP1 event competition thing where it was discovered that controller users weren't just disadvantaged, but absolutely unable to produce laptimes as good as those with dedicated wheel setups because you simply couldn't get as much steering lock using a controller regardless of what you did with the settings. I still managed to gold the ones I bothered doing but the Spa one broke my patience, as you couldn't take Blanchmont flat out with a controller, and i'll be damned if I was forking out for a wheel just to keep pace in an online time trial. Made me really fall out of love with the game, and i've not given GT Sport a look so far really.

Getting the itch to play a racing game again though, might wait for this years F1 effort.

OK, so finally bought the game and after installing overnight it says unable to connect due to network issues (NE-210003EE), I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and same issue... took the game down my dads and it works fine?

I've browsed the Internet for solutions but no luck, has anyone else had this problem?

Nope. I've had connection problems before but they're usually linked to a poor connection or maintenance.

Finally bought the GT Sport game as am convinced enough to buy it. I've always preferred offline racing. Now just have to install upgrades worth 52 GB.
